Blackbelt Andersen – Tyrkisk Pepper

Wow, this is some good shit. Never heard of Blackbelt Andersen before. Stumbled upon him via an excellent Mustang mixtape the other day and I feel that I must blog this to you guys even if the "Tyrkisk Pepper" release was out last year.

Blackbelt Andersen move in the same Norwegian fjord disco as his fellow countrymen of Prins Thomas, Lindstrom and Todd Terje. And also not to forget Dolle Jolle, who also made a splendid remix of the track. Enjoy these gems on a Sunday like this!

¡BORRACHO! + Gossip

¡BORRACHO! is standing in the way of control together with amazing Gossip. Way too long time since we did a post about our beloved ¡BORRACHO!, but now they're back with this old school down tempo remix of Gossip's "Standing In The Way Of Control". Nice to hear some new great stuff from the boys.

Gossip - Standing In The Way Of Control (¡BORRACHO! Remixx) (320 kbps)

And because it's been a while since the last ¡BORRACHO! post we must pay our debts by putting in some bonus tracks. For example the first original track that I've heard from them, with the track "Alpine" along with a more epic remix of Health.

Lovers + Name in Lights

Here's some really nice deep disco house to get your limbs moving. It's Stockholm producer Lovers getting some remix treatment from fellow Stockholm trio Name in Lights.

They're a fairly new act on the disco/house scene. They made their debut on their own label FEED Recordings with the acid-influenced slowbanging remix of DJ Dust's "Ancient Astronauts" which became something of an underground hit on Stockholm dancefloors. Since then they've released their debut EP "Eld & Lågor", followed by a remix of Nick Chacona's "Slice Of Life" on New York label Wurst, a second EP, "Disco Touchdown", released on British label Under The Shade with remixes by such eminent DJs as Eric 'Dr Dunks' Duncan and Eddie Mars earlier this year, and the impressive tropically influenced acid disco smoker "Ur Öskunni" released on Wurst compilation "The Wurst Music Ever".

We can expect to hear a lot more from Name In Ligths within the near future, with both remixes and original material planned on both FEED and other labels. In the meantime, fan them on Facebook!

T&K

A lot stuff is happening over at French label On The Fruit Records. They have some exciting releases in the pipeline that we'll cover soon, and their latest release, T&K's debut album "Magic Talk" is doing very well on Beatport.

T&K are a duo, even if the cute video below make them out to be a trio. The video is not very accurate at all, since they're not cartoon blobs either, but a guy and a gal made out of flesh and blood from Lille, France.

here's the video:

Here's the album:

Housse de Racket + Oliver + Robotaki

Weird, I was certain we had written about Housse de Racket's awesome, and now almost two months old single "Roman". You know that we haven't always been the fastest blog, and lately we have been using the Heinz Ketchup strategy when blogging, but are we now also turning demented? Well, that doesn't bode well.

Anyway, Housse de Racket had the album "Alesia" released on Kitsuné in late August with the single "Roman" coming out less than a week after that. The original is great, as I said, and so are the remixes by Oliver and Robotaki that now are available for free.

Oliver has since this remix made a new original track plus an awesome remix of the new Sneaky Sound System single "Big", which is a big favourite of mine right now (if you parden the pun).

Toronto's Robotaki made an awesome remix of Chilly Gonzales' "You Can Dance" last winter, and a just as awesome remix of Kavinsky's "Nightcall" last autumn. Also check out his remixes of Natalia Kills and You!.

Lissi Dancefloor Disaster + Lo-Fi-Fnk + more

I must admit, I hadn't heard of the duo Lissi Dancefloor Disaster despite them being from the lovely University city of Uppsala 45 mins north of Stockholm (which is a city we've played in a lot and where we are going back to play on November 9). The Stockholm duo Lo-Fi-Fnk, on the other hand, are old favourites of ours, and the latter's remix of the former caught my eyes in the mailbox today. Heading over to LDD's Soundcloud page to listen to their new EP "AS We Plz" that comes out today, i was sold by the lovely electropop. And the kittens.

Here's the EP in full:

As We Plz EP by Lissi Dancefloor Disaster

My favourites after a couple of listens are these:

I Will Not by Lissi Dancefloor Disaster

Glowing Hearts by Lissi Dancefloor Disaster

My least favourite track of the EP was strangely enough the one Lo-Fi-Fnk have remixed. On the other hand, those guys never disappoint.

Pop Musiiic (Lo-Fi-Fnk Remix) by Lissi Dancefloor Disaster

Here are a couple of nice LDD remixes. M.I.A. needs no introduction, while Those Dancing Days are a great Swedish indie band, and Swedish singer Emmon you can learn more about in our interview with her.

Clancy remixes

Here's a short update on everyone's favourite Clancy. He's made a couple of remixes lately. One of French electro prodigy Alec Carlsson (with a very Swedish sounding name), and one of Sweden's most hipster mainstream singers (or is it the other way around?), Robyn. I'm not using the M-word to have a go at her, on the contrary, there are few people who make so authentic music, and still appeal to such a wide audience, and that's both impressive and well deserved. Anyway, here are the tracks:

Robyn - None of Dem (Clancy Discoteca Remix) (Free download) by Clancymusic

Alec Carlsson - Royal Lives (Clancy Re-Edit) by Clancymusic

Speaking of Alec Carlsson, he's got a new EP out that you should check out:

CatCovers tribute to Daft Punk

Almost exactly two years ago we wrote about Barcelona's CatComplex. The first thing I heard of him was his Robin Gibb remix that was a part of Barcelona duo Buffetlibre's "Rewind" cover/remix project on 80s pop classics. Those Catalans seem to love their covers (who doesn't?), because since then Ángel CatComplex have been working hard on a cover project of his own; the CatCovers tribute to Daft Punk!

This has been long time in the making; we were on the verge of writing about it back in December of last year, but the whole release was pushed forward till now. The release is basically a re-do of Daft Punk's classic album "Discovery", and the music span from house and electro remixes to more overhauled rock covers. I've posted my favourites, but head over to the CatCovers website to download the whole release for free in a convenient RAR-file.

Is Tropical + Leopard of Honour

On October 31 Is Tropical will release their third single off June's "Native To" album on Kitsuné. Check out Leopard of Honour's which sounds a bit like a French electro-funk remix of a Depeche Mode song made for a 70s Italian movie soundtrack. And I mean that in a good way.

Gigamesh + Fare Soldi

Minneapolis' Gigamesh is a great producer responsible for the 2009 Billboard number 6 remix of Mike Posner's "Cooler Than Me", amongst other things. He's also a part of both the remix group DiscoTech and synth-disco-pop band Señor Stereo, which we wrote about here. Yesterday he released his new self-titled EP featuring collaborations with Induce, Amanda Love and Nicole Godiva. Fan Gigamesh on Facebook, buy the EP on iTunes and check out this remix of our favourite Italian disco duo Fare Soldi, who we haven't heard from since last month. We're glad they survived their US tour.

Walter Sobcek - Miami

We're big fans of Walter Sobcek, which is why we are very happy that they have released their second single "Miami" a couple of days ago. With the debut single "Je Me Souviens" released last September, we're also hoping they can pick up the release tempo and get the interval down to less than a year. On the other hand, if the resulting lovely synthpop songs require this long to be written and produced, so be it.

"Miami" is out now on Schmooze with remixes from Kido Koji, Allen Walker, Muffin and Basel's Pharao Black Magic. However, they're kind enough to give away the latter for free! Pick up the rest of the release over at Juno or iTunes.

Moullinex in Stockholm

Tonight at Slakthuset the Portuguese gentleman Moullinex will show us how it will happen. A couple of weeks ago we brought his good friend Xinobi to the same place. I don't know what these Portuguese and Slakthuset got in common, but it must be something...

It's our friend's club Studio that booked Moullinex and they got a really nice thing going on over at Slakthuset, last time the brought Bottin, pretty good in other words. Event here.

So as a warmup, some good ol' Moullinex tracks and some new. See ya tonight around the Slakthuset area.

Kites, oh Kites!

Discovered Kites early this summer and was about to make a grand post about this fine British band. That didn't happen, because I was overwhelmed by such a grand music instead of making the post. But now it's Kites time!

Where should we start? As mentioned Kites are from London and consists of four fine members, Matthew, Richard, Jack and Jasper. The quartet haven't been around as a four-piece for that long but yet they have released a bunch of tracks, in matter of fact two EPs and a remix EP. And now they're here with a new single named "Brother". The track is a melancholy story of two brothers, whose fates are interwoven throughout the song in a tapestry of fear and hope. One brother is at the end of his journey; the other is only just embarking. And they've shot a video with film-maker George Harvey (i:D Magazine, GQ Magazine) that will premiere at Kites' site within a week. We get back to you with that track and the video shortly and instead start out with the B-side "Art Tastes Better Blind". Fantastic track that really summarize what Kites is all about.

Art Tastes Better Blind by Kites

As you can hear, the influences and how Kites sound like, remind you partly of the 80s new wave and pop scene. They've been compared with classic acts like Talking Heads, OMD, Ultravox and New Order but I also think they could be put in the same field as modern acts like Patrick Wolf and Hurts. Love the 80s-like voice of Matthew Phillips. Get to know the voice in these two tracks available for download.

Kites - The Disappearance of Becky Sharp (256 kbps)

Kites - You Are Dead (To Me) (320 kbps)

And already by now you probably are in love with Kites and want more of their fine gems. Try some of the best ones from their latest EP, and also observe that Kites aren't only gazing back in time with their sound, I would rather say that they are the modern inheritors of 80s new wave that they combine with the indie electro of today. That make you love their sound!

The Blue Door by Kites

Yellow Letter by Kites

Take the Reins by Kites

And there has also been a remix project, where a bunch of producers have remixed some carefully selected tunes of Kites. Of the nine remixed tracks in the project, I must say that all of them is really really good, but I've picked my favourites here below.

Kites - The Disappearance of Becky Sharp (The Sanfernando Sound Remix) by Kites

Kites - The Disappearance of Becky Sharp (Tribal Riot Remix) by Kites

Kites - Black Dog (Kontraband Remix) by Kites

Kites - The Seamstress (Modern Manners Remix) by Kites

Find even more from Kites over at their SoundCloud, in other words, the rest of the tracks from the remix project and all their earlier tracks and even "Brother" if you want to take a sneak preview before the release of the video. And here you can find them over at the well known Facebook.

Tyson + The Magician

Today The Magician is giving away a free remix of Tyson's "Out of My Mind", that we wrote about back in March. That's awful kind of him. The Soundcloud link comes with a downloadable Wave. If you want to take up less space on your harddrive we have compressed it into an mp3.

Exclusive Sunday Girl remix

Sunday Girl has been a Tracasseur favourite since we first heard her cover of Laura Branigan's "Self Control". Sunday Girl aka Jade Williams got her name from when she worked in a pet store every Sunday back in the days. Nowadays she has her own fashion brand, writes music for big artists such as Kylie and Deadmau5 and are also about to release her debut album early 2012. Sunday Girl is a big girl now.

Recently she also got a Hype Machine #1 hit with the RAC remix of her single "Love U More" and tonight we got a Tracasseur exclusive for you with the ASA Mix of that track. Thanks to Polydor and LaDigit.

SYNDROMES by The Golden Filter

The Golden Filter have been involved in this amazing short film "Syndromes". Together with Kristoffer Borgli they've made this surreal, beautiful and arty desaturated masterpiece. I was drawn into the movie with its nice photo perfect matched with the music and sounds of The Golden Filter. Beautiful!

Exclusive interview: Lovesport

We're happy that we got to get to know the NY-based duo of Lovesport this summer. We could hear great music in only a few tracks and we believe these guys will hit it off, really really soon. The label that picks them up should be happy to get these talents in their roster. We're are also glad that we got the chance to get to know them a little better so our readers will get to know them better too.

Hello Lovesport! How are things over in NYC?
BEN: Getting colder, how's Sverige?

Sverige (Sweden) is starting to prepare for the long cold winter. But this summer we got the joy to get to know you guys and it was a great pleasure. You sent us your fine track "Chase" and it was pure love. How was the response from people when you got the track out?
BEN: The response was stronger than we expected. We sent it out as a shot in the dark but blogs like yours really helped propel it to people that we never though we would reach.

Since you are such a new act to our readers, who are you really? We know that you are Ben and Julian, living in NYC and that you are doing awesome music together, but we want to know more…
JULIAN: Let's just keep it on a need to know basis. We gave you our pictures is that not enough? Just kidding, that wouldn't make for a good interview would it? Our favorite restaurant is Super Taste. If you want to find out what inspires us go try some of their hand pulled beef noodles.
BEN: Julian can't grow facial hair.
JULIAN: Ben is an asshole.

We have only heard two tracks by you so far, your own track "Chase" and the remix of Lo-Fi-Fnk's "Boom". But we can already hear your quality in your music. What kind of music do you get your inspiration from?
JULIAN: Other than authentic cheap chinese cuisine, we draw influence from all over. Every time we set out to make music we go through a ritual we call "inspiration information".
BEN: Yea, we are both a little different in our tastes and so we each bring songs to the table, new or old, that we are loving at the moment. We make a point to listen to them for a little while before we start working on anything to get the juices flowing.
JULIAN: It could range from Fleetwood Mac or New Edition to Holy Ghost! (especially when Michael McDonald sings backup) or the new Junior Boys.

Your remix of "Boom" was meant to be on Lo-Fi-Fnk's official release, and now it won't be. How come that happened to that great remix?
BEN: Well I am sure you guys understand the music business, dealing with a lot of artists. For reasons that we don't fully understand it didn't make it on the single despite the boys from Lo-Fi-Fnk loving it. So it goes...

But now you got your new remix for Hey Champ's "Too Hot" ready and you're giving it away exclusively here at Tracasseur. Tell us a little about the remix and how it was made?
BEN: I know Pete from the band and I asked to remix one of their tracks, so he sent us "Too Hot". As soon as we heard it, we knew it was going to be a challenge because we liked the original so much.
JULIAN: Yea, rather than try to up the energy of the track, we decided to slow it down to give it a new feel. Of course it wouldn't be complete without some cheesy DX7 electric piano.

Do you have any new tracks or projects in the pipeline?
BEN: Yes! We are finishing up a track we made in the chase sessions and another with our own vocals so stay tuned for that.

If an artist or band phoned you up and asked you to do a remix for their next release, who would you wanted that to be?
JULIAN: Jadakiss.
BEN: Flight Facilities. Love what they are doing.

How do you often produce your tracks, together in the studio or in some other way?
BEN: We always make them together. We are waiting for that awesome new technology that would allow us to make them via some sort telepathy but that hasn't been invented yet.
JULIAN: We actually tried collaborating the old fashioned way, over the internet, but it never had the same spark.

When we wrote about you back in July you were still unsigned, how is the status now then?
BEN: That has not changed.

What's next for you guys?
JULIAN: We are currently working on more vocal tracks. Trying to highlight a pop sensibility without losing our dance roots. Building a cohesive EP to shop around.

That's it for today guys, we thank you for the interview and of course for the exclusive track. Take care!
BEN: Thank You! Anything for you guys.
JULIAN: Almost anything...

Meet Rossa, former known as Testarossa

Our good ol' friend Testarossa has just changed his artist name into Rossa. Of course he will still keep on doing great music and his first release "Tough Life" EP will be out on Young Society Records this autumn. So join Rossa's new Facebook fanpage to keep track of what his up to in the future.

This is the first Rossa track with his new name and it's an edit of a classic Tears for Fears track. Nice one Rossa!

Exclusive M.A.N.D.Y.

Today we got a little exclusive track straight out of Berlin for you. It's the duo of M.A.N.D.Y. that will share this track with us and you. It's been up on SoundCloud a couple of days for the industry but now we will go public with it. It's a little deeper than we usually go, but we really dig this new remix and we assume you will too. Buy it over at Beatport if you do.

Moullinex - Sunflare EP

We had a great time playing with Xinobi a couple of weeks back, so we're looking forward to Xinobi's Portuguese colleague and co-runner of Discotexas, Moullinex, playing in Stockholm too next Saturday. Moullinex will release a new EP, entitled "Sunflare", on German super label Gomma on October 21. The title track generously comes in two versions; one funky slow-disco version and one more uptempo version for the dancefloor. Both are awesome, and which you'll prefer depends on your mood. The third track is modular synth jam that suits a deeper dancefloor. So if you put the "Sunflare" on at eleven tonight, the Club mix at around one, and "Modular Jam" on around five you'll be set.

If you're in Stockholm Saturday 15, Moullinex will be playing with our friend Richard Testarossa, who also has been released on Gomma. Here's the Facebook event, and a bonus edit from the redhead himself:

Also buy the whole release over there including three original track and two remixes. Here below is the title track to you for free.

Sun Goes Down with Icona Pop

We have the great pleasure to know the duo behind Icona Pop and we're also happy that their latest track featuring The Knocks has been on the list for the most blogged artist for more than a week over at Hype Machine. And it's not strange because this is even a stronger track than their hit "Manners", that was featured on Kitsuné Compilation 10. So, with that said, I give you Icona Pop's best track so far! Let the sun go down...

And because we haven't blogged about "Manners" before, here is that great track in the extended version along with the Captain Cuts remix.

Kris Menace & Rex the Dog

A powerful duo releases "POW!" together. Kris Menace and Rex the Dog in a collaboration, very interesting I would say. Menace is one of the most well-respected producers out there since "Discopolis" and Rex the Dog is one of the highest coveted remixers the last years.

"POW!" is a strong track with distinct sounds from both Menace and Rex, making this into a modern classic maybe? It's released exclusively on Beatport today and available everywhere else October 24. Down here you can stream Rex's Casio version recorded entirely on his vintage Casio CZ230-s.

Florence and the Machine + The Weeknd

Florence and the Machine is one favourite act of mine. The voice of Florence Welch, wow, what a voice. The original of "Shake It Out" is fantastic and then hyped The Weeknd make it into another fantastic version. Make babies to this track!

And the fantastic original:

Keljet & Falcon Punch

Not long ago I wrote about the Dutchmen of Keljet and that they finally made their first original since only making remixes before. Now they have teamed up with LA-based Falcon Punch for a feast in the funky nu disco land. "Saturday Night" is a laidback disco track that make you feel good even if it's Sunday today. Nice collaboration that we hopefully will hear more from.

And to me Falcon Punch was a new acquaintance, and it was a pleasant one. Have to say it is was joy from the start. Love the pure disco approach from him. Check out these two fine ones below and also check out the funky mixtape "Falcon Punch 001" and listen to more mixtapes on his SoundCloud
