Louis La Roche - F.U.B.A.R

Some new Louis La Roche is always nice. If it's free download it's even nicer. "F.U.B.A.R" - fucked up beyond all recognition - is a little funky piece of house.

Plexi Grace

More Swedish music. This time it's the new project by two Johans; Agebjörn (Sally Shapiro) and Emmoth (Le Prix). Together two of Sweden's finest nu italo/disco/synth producers will be making music under the name Plexi Grace. The first release will be the re-release of "Watch The World Go By", which we wrote about back in April. This time it will be released on Fektive Records, and one of the remixes is made by Jam El Mar from Jam & Spoon. As an answer to that, Johan Agebjörn will make a Sally Shapiro remix of the upcoming re-release of Jam & Spoon's classic "Find Me" in early 2012.

Now for some Swedish talent that it's about time we write about. A little over a year ago we were tipped off by friends from Uppsala about the production abilities of young producer Tobtok. Back then he was still in high school and had only been making music for a short while, but you could still hear that he was worth following.

Growing up he listened to all kinds of music; a lot of rock and metal, but also old disco. One of his early childhood idols was Michael Jackson, who still is a big influence. It was around two years ago he started making electronic music for fun, but the past year he's been taking it more seriously. It's also during this time he's been discovering house music in all of its forms. Obviously French house is a favourite sub-genre, but he has a lot up his sleeve, especially considering the little amount of time he's been doing this.

So check out Tobtok, and follow his development through Facebook or Soundcloud.

Pyramid takes on Justice

Our favourite Lyon producer Pyramid has put his teeth into Justice's "Canon" and making it into something totally else than the guitar-techno that Justice goes with these days. This remix is super fresh from the oven, so enjoy this delicacy my friends!

Pat Lok - No Shame EP

The latest release from On The Fruit Records is from a guy we've been keeping our eyes on for quite a while. Vancouver producer and DJ Pat Lok, recently came home from Mexico where he played a couple of shows with another favourite Vancouver native of ours; FM Attack. Lok has been going from strength to strength and this release is just awesome, so it's about time we put our spotlight on him.

The "No Shame" EP includes remix support from Brooklyn's Bit Funk, our Binary buddy Goldroom, Washingtonian Volta Bureau, and German producer OHYEAH. Great stuff all of it, but I have to say I have a soft spot for OHYEAH's disco house smoker; it's super funky, super happy and super cheesy (in a good way). Hope you like it as much as we do, since Pat is kind enough to share it for free with our readers!

Packed weekend with D/R/U/G/S, The Touch and Mustang

This weekend we're looking forward to a crammed, but fun, couple of days. Friday we're playing with D/R/U/G/S and The Touch, and Saturday we have booked Mustang. I'm guessing Sunday will be a very slow day.

First thing first though. Tomorrow, Friday, we are playing with 22-year old house maestro D/R/U/G/S who recently supported Digitalism's tour. We're really looking forward to it, since we heard great things about his gig in Gothenburg a while ago. He's got a new three track EP coming out November 28 on Moshi Moshi imprint Tender Age Record, and here's a free teaser track for that one. Also, check out his latest mixtape and a bonus Lykke Li remix to get an idea of what to expect.

Supporting act for the night is Swedish electro quartet The Touch, who's been released on Kitsuné and cool Swedish house label Trunkfunk. Check out the video of their Kitsuné single "Sermon", and their latest remix of Chad Valley.

Chad Valley - Now That I'm Real (The Touch Remix) by ThTch

We'll be supporting DJs together with Gustav Sundh from Svenska Musikklubben. Here is the Facebook event for the night.

On Saturday we are proud to have booked the Belgian former duo, and now one-man show, Mustang. I don't know what they feed their babies down in Belgium to make them grow up into awesome disco producers and DJs, just as I don't know why their disco duos all seem to split (Mustang is the third after Aeroplane and Villa). Maybe it's got something to do with the long-lasting discussion in Belgium to split the country into a French and a Dutch part, or they just have come up with a smart way of multiply.

Either way, check out their October mixtape, their latest single plus the recent remix of Arnaud Rebotini, and the great, but not as recent, Monarchy remix to get you in the mood for Saturday.

Niki & The Dove + Goldroom

Wow, our buddy Josh Legg over at Binary, better known as Goldroom, is on fire at the moment. It wasn't long ago we posted his excellent Gigamesh remix, and today he's giving away this remix of Swedish duo Niki & The Dove. It's incredible that people are willing to give away music like this when there's so much crap that other people actually charge money for. For the love of God, fan Goldroom on Facebook!

Bit Funk on Hedkandi

It's not every day we write about Ministry of Sound or their Hedkandi releases, but this one, judging by the names on the cover, might very well be worth checking out. I know at least one track is for sure; Bit Funk's remix of M-Gee's solid, albeit cheesy and rather generic, 2003 track "Bodyswerve".

Bit Funk makes the best use of British soul diva Mica Paris' vocals and makes an updated version of the type of garage house that was my bread and water during much of the 90s. If you like this half as much as I do, you'll want to check out names like Joe Clausell, Kerri Chandler, Cevin Fisher and Paul Johnson.

Fan Bit Funk on Facebook.

Tesla Boy on Kitsuné

Today was also the release of Kitsuné Maison volume 12. As usual there's a lot of good stuff on that. One obvious track is everyone's favourite Russians Tesla Boy and their "In Your Eyes".

Crystal Fighters

Last week we posted a nice Crystal Fighters remix. They have had the dub-influenced single "Champion Sound" out for a while. The original is great and it's supported with remixes from Mr Nô, AKS and another favourite of ours, Mustang. Check them out if you haven't already.

Kisses cover of Robert Palmer

Our lovely L.A. duo Kisses have made this wonderful cover of Robert Palmer's classic "Johnny and Mary" from 1980. The Robert Palmer original is one of my absolute favourite 80s tracks and I got really excited when I read the mail from Maman Records. Kisses making a cover of that old fave track got me excited and I wasn't disappointed when I heard their version. A version that made my day and hopefully yours too!

And then as an extra bonus from Maman Records they just made this fine sexy mixtape. Tracklist is to be found in the comments section or at their SoundCloud. Love the beginning of this mixtape!

Mirror People - Feel The Need (feat. Rowetta)

Today is also the release of the latest Discotexas release, Mirror People's "Feel the Need", that we previewed last week. Mirror People is Rui Maia from Porto, who has already released disco gems on labels like Permanent Vacation, Brilliantine, Raw Cutz, Solardisco and Social Disco Club's Hands of Time. The new tune features Rowetta on vocals and is a great disco groove. It's backed by a host of great remixes from Moullinex, Munk, Social Disco Club and Severino.

Young Empires + Freak You + bonus

Seems like "early next week" comes early this week. Here's the first remix of the new single from Young Empires by On the Fruit's head-honcho Freak You. As a bonus he gives away his remix of one of the tracks from T&K new album, that we wrote about a little while ago. For free!

Tracasseur premiere: The return of Young Empires

It's been a while since we heard from one of our favourite bands. Actually it's been too long. But tomorrow the wait is over when Toronto's Young Empires release their new single "Enter Through The Sun" on hometown label Pirates Blend. And tomorrow isn't just any other day; it's 11.11.11, a date that in some belief systems marks an important transformation in consciousness and represents a most spiritual and sacred time on this planet. A time where we can come together as a global community and uplift ourselves through dancing, chanting and loving. So, let's join the band as they enter through the sun.

And if you're the more convenient type, you can at least buy the single tomorrow, and follow Young Empires on Facebook.

By the way, you can expect a couple of remixes early next week too.

Fabian - The Jack + mixtape

Binary member Fabian has just signed a deal with Bond Music Group, which means the same agency who represents the likes of Classixx, Moby, Poolside and Alan Braxe will be handling his North American bookings. That should mean that you Americans and Canadians will see a lot more of one of L.A.'s finest. Lucky bastards.

To celebrate this, Fabian is giving away his track "The Jack" (wow, that rhymed) for free!

Fear of Tigers remixes

Awesome producer and good friend Fear of Tigers is sharing his many remixes in a rather unorthodox way; by mixing them together. A little while ago he uploaded his Remixes part II mixtape. You should check them out. Also, if you recognize the artist in the last track of of the second mixtape, help to identify her would be greatly appreciated since Ben has forgotten the artist's name.

Studio Killers - Ode To The Bouncer (Fear of Tigers Remix) (160 kbps)

Also, speaking of The Sound of Arrows in the last post, Human Error is hosting an awesome party in London on Friday. The line-up include live shows from Fear of Tigers, Visitor, The Sound of Arrows and Queen of Heart plus a number of DJ sets (check the flyer above). And the best part is that it's free! Here is the Facebook event.

And don't forget to tune in to Fear of Tiger's podcasts. The last couple of shows include The Magician and an Italo house special.

New The Sound of Arrows album + video

Super-cool Swedish electropop duo The Sound of Arrows are releasing their debut album "Voyage" today. We saw them perform a great live-gig a couple of months ago. Apart from only using analogue synths, they had a great stage presence and are not to be missed live. Not to be missed is the album too of course. Pick it up on Amazon or iTunes! They're also worth following on Facebook.

Here's the brand new video of "Wonders":

New EP and an album from Pyramid

New mighty stuff from Lyon-based Pyramid. We always like it and probably Cheops and Tutankhamun too. Not that they were into this kind of music but if they were they would have loved Pyramid.

We start off with the new EP "Rising Day" that's out tomorrow November 7 on Technofavrik. This is a superb solid EP that show why Pyramid is one of the most talented young producers out there right now. All five tracks got that extra something and what I also love about the music that Pyramid create, is that it's not boring in any way, a lot of things going on making every track interesting from the first second to the last. Many producers come with a melody and then the build the whole track around that, but Pyramid is much wider and deeper. Maybe as deep as the Pharaohs' tombs?

This is a EP that you buy right away here and then you fan this guy on Facebook and then you take a good listen to nice tracks such as "Cosmos" and "Citizen" and then you write something cheerful on his wall. And you can also start by listen to "Synthesis", the best track from the EP.

Synthesis (Rising Day EP // Out 7th November) by -Pyramid-

Then we also must let you know about his first album he released not so long ago named "Lost In Space". It's of course also a solid release, because it's created by Pyramid. Lots of new favourite tracks on the album that's been played over and over again. "Extra Life", "Galaxy", "Digital Rain" to name a few of them. Head over to Pyramid's Bandcamp and get your hands on "Lost In Space".

Pyramid - Extra Life (320 kbps)

Pyramid - Galaxy (320 kbps)

Pyramid - Digital Rain (320 kbps)

Pyramid - Life (320 kbps)

And finally as a bonus, a kind of a new track from Lyon master Pyramid, not on any album or EP.

Pyramid - On A Walk (320 kbps)

Kites' video for "Brother"

We wrote about the fabulous quartet of Kites a while ago and in that post we mentioned that a video for the single "Brother" was about to come. Now it's here!

The track is a melancholy story of two brothers, whose fates are interwoven throughout the song in a tapestry of fear and hope. One brother is at the end of his journey; the other is only just embarking. The video is made by film-maker George Harvey (i:D Magazine, GQ Magazine).

Retrospective with Le Matos

Always joyful times when you hear from Le Matos. Last year it has been quiet and we all along wanted to hear new material from them. We know that they are up to something in a near future but until then they were so gentle that they released a collection of tracks from now back to 2008. In other words, it's a short retrospective of Le Matos and their progress. And the beauty of this, is that they give it to you for free (of course you can also pay to show them your respect).

The album title "Coming Soon" is a hint of something is cooking over in Montreal. This teaser for the track "Sarah" has been out there for a while. And what I hear in "Sarah" makes me really excited of what to come. Bring it on Le Matos!

LE MATOS "Sarah" (teaser) by LE MATOS

But, back to this collection of gems with Le Matos, that could make any kid (or adult) excited at Christmas. But it's not Christmas yet, but it's a kind gift from the Canadian trio. Tracasseur have always had Le Matos as one top played act on our gigs. For us "Quiet Earth", is an immortal Tracasseur-classic. "88mph" and "Like Perfume on a Pig" too of course. But there are also tracks on this album that not even me had heard before, so for me this was a pre-Christmas. Down below I've picked out the most shiny gems of the album, but you should of course also head over here right away to get the whole treasure in any format you want.

Mecanico from Chile

Always love when we write about totally new music from a country that we've not written about before. Mecanico comes from Santiago in Chile, and is the first band from Chile that we write about through our years. And we like what we hear!

Mecanico is a five-piece band and they do that kind of electro indie pop that we like so much. We've heard their name flying by us some times, but first now I got the time to listen to their sound. And as a couple of friends do, I like what I hear too.

They're about to release their latest single "Street Royal" along with a music video tomorrow, Wednesday, November 2 at 10:00 PM (UTC/GMT -3 hours), but we already got it for you here in 192 kbps.

We also got some other tracks from their free "Mecanico" EP from their homepage. Check them out!

Mecanico - Barcelona (192 kbps)

Mecanico - Pacific Pearl (192 kbps)

Mecanico - Fanatic (192 kbps)

"Fanatic" also comes with two remixes from Moonchild and Kolt13, where I like Kolt13's the most.

Latest tune from our German friends of Final DJs is a straight forward one that probably right now is all I need. It has a nice sampled guitar loop that really give something extra to this track. Keep it up Final DJs!

Gigamesh + Goldroom

Life must be grand for Josh Legg. Not only is he head honcho at one of the coolest blogs and labels ('blabels') Binary Entertainment, he lives in the lovely city of Los Angeles, California. Probably in a mansion, where he sits by the pool drinking his breakfast champagne while his pedicurist is massaging his feet. It's probably the same pedicurist as Dennis Quaid uses too.

I don't know these things for a fact though, but what I do know is that, besides releasing and blogging about great music, he makes just as great music himself under the moniker Goldroom. His latest remix of Gigamesh will testify to that.
