Fugly edits

As advertised, Database's Ugly Edits volume 2 dropped yesterday. 313 MB of maximalistic disco, soul and poodle rock reedits by senhores Database and friends, including Midnight Martyn, Edu K, Fisk as well as a Daft Punk cover by The Twelves! Reedits include tracks from Jackson 5, The B-52's, Belinda Carlisle, The Stooges, The Temptations, Metallica and Slayer. 36 tracks in all to swing your fuzzies to (as we say in Swedish). Here are some of the highlights:

Black Way - New Life (Database Reedit)

Masurati & Huey Harris - Super Duper Lovin (Database Reedit)

Marina Lima - Fullgás (The Random Quart de Siècle Reedit)
(The Random on MySpace)

Sparks - Tryouts For The Human Race (Digitaria Reedit)
(Digitaria on MySpace)

The Twelves - Nightvision (Daft Punk cover)

Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag (Fisk Reedit)

Download this monster of a compilation for free from Database's MySpace!

I love Database (who we've written about in a previous post) and their brand of cut-up disco. It seems they love me too, because they're releasing the Ugly Edits vol.2 EP as a free download on my birthday, May 25. I thank Database for the lovely present, but I'll promise to share it with you!

Disco Paulistano

Since I'm a bit slow, I haven't figured out how to make GIFs work on our site until now. But now that I have, I'm only going to post about people with cool/wacky animated logos. Chances are our legal department is going to force us to post an epilepsy warning in the right-hand column...

Database from São Paulo, Brazil not only have wacky GIFs, they also produce outlandish disco music to go with them. Somewhere between disco, filter house and electro you get that sweaty carnival feel from their music.
