Tracasseur Guest Tape #3: DJ Nibc

Some slow posting lately, and the last post over a week ago. You guys must wonder what the hell we're doing; are we quitting the blogging game? Fear not, we have both just been super busy with our respective day jobs (fighting crime and ending world hunger). A guy who must have wondered the same is Swedish Berlin expat Fredrik Nyberg who had this mix ready almost a month ago (sorry Fredde). As DJ Nibc he makes deep and vibey house music cool enough for guys like Mercury to remix. With his label Trunkfunk he's also pumping out great, often Swedish, music. Which is cool since the music import, especially when it comes to deep house, usually goes the other way.

Uniforms remixed

We've already covered the excellent first release of excellent blog-turned-label French Express. Our favourites on a very strong compilation was Swedish duo Uniforms, who just had their new video released:


They have also been given some very nice remixing treatment by Danish Eumig & Chinon, who makes you think of guys like Breakbot, SebastiAn or why not Justice, and mysterious Australians Rainbows of Death, who we've been keeping tabs on since their awesome remix of Pocket 808, and who up until very recently didn't even have a MySpace page. On the other hand, who uses MySpace in the 10s, right?

Anyway, they're both acts that we hope we'll have the opportunity to get back to you about.

French Express vol. 1

Our colleagues over at French Express are running a great blog. The guys over there likes their French-style house as much as you and me, and theirs is one of the blogs I routinely turn to when I need a French touch fix. And it has been since long before we started our own blog.

Now French Express have set up their own label. Except for all the hard work, the step to set up your own label isn't that far-fetched if you run a music blog. You get all this music sent to you from unsigned acts and you already have cut out a musical niche through the blog. So expect more great blogs turning into great labels in the future.

The first release of the new label is aptly named French Express Vol. 1, and is a seven track compilation. It's a great compilation, and what surprised me was the diversity of the tracks, with the French touch and nu italo stuff mixed with more of indie dance tracks. And after the first swift through it was one of those latter tracks that I fell for; Uniforms' second track that made me think of Holy Ghost! or Jamaica. The Swedish duo are true renaissance men, evidenced by their website which is packed with clothing, music, art and film.
