New track from M83 taken from the soundtrack for Oblivion

M83's Anthony Gonzalez finally had his dream come true by creating a movie soundtrack. The soundtrack is for Tom Cruise's next big movie "Oblivion". He has teamed up with the Joseph Trapanese, the guy behind "TRON: Uprising", and together they have seemed to create some magic sounds.

M83 as the band has teamed up with our beloved Norwegian Susanne Sundfør to give us the lead song for the movie, named the same. Powerful stuff along with Susanne's mighty voice.

"StarWaves" is the work of Gonzalez and Trapanese, and it's also a powerful and epic movie tune.

The soundtrack for "Oblivion" will be released on April 9 on Back Lot Records. Now we can just hope that the movie will hold the same high caliber as the music will do. Time for Tom Cruise to show us that when the movie premieres April 12.

All 2011 remixes from Christian Strobe for free

As a late Christmas gift, Christian Strobe comes with a package full of remixes. His first remix album and it's named "Reworks #1". In other words, we hopefully going to see a new package like this next year again.

During 2011 Christian has remixed acts such as M83, Tensnake, Arcade Fire, Katy Perry and Holy Ghost! Now he's collected them all, among with the remixes for My Bloody Valentine and Lips, making this into a 7-track-album, and it's all for free. Thank you Santa Strobe!

Because we already posted the remixes of M83 and Holy Ghost! earlier, we give you two others as preview before you download the whole album as a zip from here.

M83 + Trentemøller

Two amazing acts combined like this becomes magic stuff and that's also why this remix is everywhere out there right now. Danish Trentemøller make M83's "Midnight City" to a mellow piece of epic sound. Especially love the part that starts 4.18 into the track.

For those who have missed out on M83's new one

"Midnight City" was released a couple of weeks ago as the first track taken from M83's awaited upcoming double-album "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" set to be released October 18. I can speak for most people around the globe that we already long for October 18 to occur. This track has been posted on most blogs out there and we shouldn't be worse not to do that too.

So this post goes out to you who haven't got the knowledge of M83 or just missed out on "Midnight City". The Christian Strobe remix is almost as good as the original in another way.

Fortune

Paris band Fortune is releasing both an EP entitled "Gimme" and an album, "Staring at the Ice Melt", on March 23. The quartet are comprised of musicians with backgrounds from several other bands like The Yolks, The Big Knife, Abstrackt Keal Agram, Y Front and Rodolphe Burger's Meteor Band.

Labeled post-punk you can hear traces from the usual new wave and synthpop bands. But the guys also cite influences from 60s pop rock bands like The Zombies and The Troggs of Love via disco and Michael Jackson to modern bands like Granddaddy, Dopplereffekt, Lo-Fi-Fnk and Vampire Weekend.

Fortune - Gimme (Blackjoy Edit)

Fortune - Mission (M83 Remix)

Fortune - In the Shadow (Tepr Remix)

Phoenix - 1901 (Fortune Remix)

Pony Pony Run Run - Hey You! (Fortune Remix)

Axe Riverboy - Carry On (Fortune Remix)

White Lies in Stockholm

The great indie rock band White Lies that I wrote about earlier in May has the fine gesture to visit Berns in Stockholm for a gig tomorrow (Wednesday, November 4th). With the fantastic album "To Lose My Life", that I still believe will be one of the greatest this year, and a lot of fine remixes I envy those who will attend Berns tomorrow. I'm stuck in the middle...

Anyhow, in the last post in May I gave you all of the remixes that were available at that time. Now there are a few new ones that I will present to you. There are two remixes of the single "Death" where Mistabishi's drum'n'bass is not my thing, but I still want to post all of them remixes. I fancy Chase & Status remix more. Finally I finished the last post with the great extra song "Nothing To Give" where I said: "...with no remixes yet..." but now there are, and it's amazing M83 who makes the song more, hmm what can I say, more M83ish!

Blip blop

Today I will hand out a few tunes, some new and some old, but with lovely blip blop sounds!

I stumbled across Swedish Dj Dana Berquist's bootleg of classic song "Missing" by Everything But The Girl the other day. And I fell in love right away. A fantastic original song with the nice add-on of some blip blop makes it great. I have been missing that tune!

Everything But The Girl - Missing (Dana Berquist Bootleg)

This one have been one of my favourites for a long time. Epic blip blop at it's best by the masters of epic build-ups M83! 3.26 into the song it rises even further after a great build-up. Wonderful!

M83 - Slowly

Another fine tune that I now will repost because it's so damn good. As I wrote in the old post about Deluce I mentioned that his music was the best soundtrack while travelling in space, and it's sure still is.

Deluce - Lead The Galaxy

From Berlin, Electrixx takes care of the classic computer game Tetris and makes it into a new kind of puzzle for the dance floors.

Electrixx - Tetris

The last one is a more intense remix by Blacklight Flashlight of Midfield General's "Disco Sirens". A new tune to beat time with one's foot.
