Oxford is in France

You thought it was as easy that Oxford still lies in the UK, and it still does, but now we also got Oxford in Toulouse, France. If you would compare tweed jackets and studies with the French Oxford, they don't have that much in common. The French Oxford is more about that funky French house.

Oxford is Antoine Rigail and we're happy to discover this guy. His material is impressive, love the sound and the melodies. Lots of house piano and you know how nice that is! Oxford has got some attention since the release of his EP "Moon", where the brilliant "Holly Moon" is on. But I think he deserve so much more attention and appreciation, because Oxford is a name that should be all over due the high quality of his music. Kelek

Thought I'd write a quick post to share some 'French' touch house we received in our inbox today. Kelek is a 25 year-old German who lives in the old Hansa city of Lübeck and he's been making electronic music for about three years. And he has far fewer plays than what his music deserves. He hasn't even set up a Facebook page yet, but on the other hand I have a feeling we might have reason to get back to him!

Coupons

D.I.S.C.O. Texas is a great Portuguese label. The roster include the likes of Moullinex, Xinobi and Rockets along with new signings Justin Faust and most recently Australian duo Coupons. I had no idea about the addition of Coupons until very recently, but that's great news both for them and the label. I've been keeping an eye on them for a while and approached them for an exclusive mixtape a while back. Now it's here, and it has been worth the wait. The tracklist is awesome, not least because of all the unreleased Coupons tracks.

We'll have reasons to write more about Coupons in the future. Not least when we can get our hands on that fantastic "Unreleased #3" track on the mixtape! In the meantime, fan them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.

By now you should already know that we are big fans of La Roux. What you don't know is that we recently received a very nice remix of "Bulletproof" by LA-based Religion. They have remixed Justice, Busy P, Mr Oizo... just to name a few. I'm not a big fan of that fidget rave house sound, but I really liked this remix. So here it is.

Tribute to La Roux

Today I have to make an extra tribute to one of my favourites, La Roux. Why, is because we are joining forces tonight with two nice girls that are in love with Tracasseur and especially the previous post about La Roux. They told us that it was love at first earshot.
Therefore I will make the tribute with the latest single “Bulletproof” and “I’m Not Your Toy”, the latest leakage from the forthcoming self-titled album. You can pre-order the album here.

…is what the gifted English girl Eleanor Jackson calls her exciting project, but in French then; La Roux. And it’s good, really good. She released her first single “Quicksand” last year on the French label Kitsuné. Great tune, check out the video directed of Kinga Burza (Kate Perry, The Teenagers, The Thrills, Ladyhawke):

The English newspaper The Guardian tells us that we should keep an eye on La Roux during 2009. And I can ensure you that we will, not to should be pure stupidity. The second single “In For The Kill” will be released March 16th on the record label Polydor. They are also set to release the debut album in 2009. Can hardly wait…
