Packed weekend with D/R/U/G/S, The Touch and Mustang

This weekend we're looking forward to a crammed, but fun, couple of days. Friday we're playing with D/R/U/G/S and The Touch, and Saturday we have booked Mustang. I'm guessing Sunday will be a very slow day.

First thing first though. Tomorrow, Friday, we are playing with 22-year old house maestro D/R/U/G/S who recently supported Digitalism's tour. We're really looking forward to it, since we heard great things about his gig in Gothenburg a while ago. He's got a new three track EP coming out November 28 on Moshi Moshi imprint Tender Age Record, and here's a free teaser track for that one. Also, check out his latest mixtape and a bonus Lykke Li remix to get an idea of what to expect.

Supporting act for the night is Swedish electro quartet The Touch, who's been released on Kitsuné and cool Swedish house label Trunkfunk. Check out the video of their Kitsuné single "Sermon", and their latest remix of Chad Valley.

We'll be supporting DJs together with Gustav Sundh from Svenska Musikklubben. Here is the Facebook event for the night.

On Saturday we are proud to have booked the Belgian former duo, and now one-man show, Mustang. I don't know what they feed their babies down in Belgium to make them grow up into awesome disco producers and DJs, just as I don't know why their disco duos all seem to split (Mustang is the third after Aeroplane and Villa). Maybe it's got something to do with the long-lasting discussion in Belgium to split the country into a French and a Dutch part, or they just have come up with a smart way of multiply.

Either way, check out their October mixtape, their latest single plus the recent remix of Arnaud Rebotini, and the great, but not as recent, Monarchy remix to get you in the mood for Saturday.

DJSB remixes 4 famous girls

DJSB aka DJ Sake Bomb is a 21 year young guy from Portland, Oregon. Even if it's not totally solid yet and that he's still experimenting with different styles I believe in this guy. The remixes of our love Ellie Goulding and our Swede Lykke Li are nice ones and the Kate Perry remix almost turn into the classic sound of the Russian female duo Tatu. Give this young dude your support!

Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (DJSB Remix)

Lykke Li - I Know Places (DJSB Remix)

Kate Perry - E.T. (DJSB Remix)

Rihanna - Only Girl (In The World) (DJSB Remix)

Lykke Li follow rivers

Swedish pride Lykke Li, continues to release mighty stuff. Her second single "I Follow Rivers" is already one for the books. "I Follow Rivers" is taken from "Wounded Rhymes" set to be released February 28 worldwide.

Here are two mighty remixes of the mighty song. The remix of The Magician has been a favourite for a while and today I finally got my hands on the 320 kbps version. And yesterday I came across the Swedish techno duo Van Rivers & the Subliminal Kid's remix, and it was quite different, and I liked it. Thanks to our friend Daniel over at ACE who gave us the tip about the new remix.

Get some more Lykke Li

In October we posted two free tracks from Lykke Li and now there's a couple of remixes made of one of them; "Get Some". Two such respected fellows as Mike D from Beastie Boys and Beck is the people behind the remixes. There's been a "fake" Beck remix out there for a while but this is the proper one that he made. Get some remixes!

diskJokke from Norway, tonight in Sweden

One from the Norwegian electronic disco crew is coming to Uppsala, Sweden tonight, his name is diskJokke. Can't really tell how you can hear that the music is made in Norway, but they have a special sound in the Land of the Midnight Sun. Could it be all the salmon they are eating from the fjords? Anyway, diskJokke makes music in the same field as Lindstrøm, Prins Thomas and Röyksopp. It's high quality all the way, from the production to the music of course.

He released his first full-length album "Staying In" in 2007 but have also released a bunch of EPs and 12". He has also done a lot of great remixes of great acts such as Bloc Party, Metronomy, The xx and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Today, Norway ranks as the wealthiest country in the world in monetary value and I also believe that Norway ranks as one of the wealthiest countries in making electronic disco.

diskJokke - Flott Flyt

diskJokke - Folk I Farta

diskJokke - Interpolation

Charlotte Gainsbourg - IRM (diskJokke Remix)

Harrys Gym - Attic (diskJokke Remix)

Lykke Li - Everybody But Me (diskJokke Remix)

Metronomy - Heartbreaker (diskJokke Remix)

Ost and Kjex - Boston Food Strangler (diskJokke Remix)

The National Bank - Home (diskJokke Remix)

The xx - Basic Space (diskJokke Remix)

Tonight I got the honour to hang out with diskJokke when he is visiting Glasnost for an amazing dj-set. So if you're in the surroundings get your ass over to Glasnost for some Norwegian disco dance. Along with diskJokke two fine Swedes are also playing records at the same place; Jackpot and Hampus Drake. We wrote about Hampus a short time ago and Jackpot have made several fine releases. More about Jackpot to come but here are some tracks.

Jackpot - Brief Encounter

The Very Best - Julia (Jackpot Remix)

Masquerade!

It was Friday 13th again, and it was time for Les Tracasseurs to play at a secret masquerade party at Skyddsrummet in Stockholm. Here are some pictures from the party and also some songs we played for our wicked crowd during the night.

I wonder what hairproducts that Mary used...

Sir Lancelot is in the house!

Just a regular crowd...

A week and a day...

We've been up a week and a day, so it's time to summarize the last eight days. There were a lot of small details to prepare (mostly consisting of trying to remember the passwords to different Google/Blogger/Gmail accounts, or so it seemed). But then again, it's always a lot more practical things than you anticipate when you start a project. You can always take some comfort in the fact that there are always people worse off than you though. Just think about everything Darth Vader had to fix when building the Death Star, and he had to build it twice!

Anyways, there were a few things that happened last week that we didn't have time to bring up. First of all, electro pop icon/Eurovision contestant Sébastien Tellier played in Stockholm together with Swedish singer/songwriter Laleh. The show was aired on Swedish public service TV-channel SVT2, so I caught a glimpse of the rerun on Saturday. Tellier seemed to put in a good performance, which also is what I heard from people who attended the concert. It seems the most memorable thing of the show, however, was when Monsieur Tellier didn't recognize the voice or picture of Lykke Li, who were present via telephone, for whatever reason, and who opened Tellier's shows in Britain. Funny stuff.

I Like both Tellier and Lykke Li, and there are quite a few excellent remixes of both of them, so here are a few. I'm quite indifferent to Laleh though, so I won't bother posting anything with her.

Sébastien Tellier - Kilometer (Donovan Remix)

Sébastien Tellier - Roche (Breakbot Remix)

Sébastien Tellier - Divine (Danger Remix)

Lykke Li - Breaking It Up (Familjen Remix)

Lykke Li - Little Bit (Gigamesh Remix)

Friendly Fires - I'm Good, I'm Gone (Lykke Li cover)

In other news Kiwi synth rocker Pip Browne, better known as Ladyhawke, played at Melkweg in Amsterdam last Tuesday, before taking her tour to Germany. I love her, but the concert got very mixed reviews, with my sources in Amsterdam suspecting she sang playback, complete with all-male backing vocalists with suspiciously feminine voices, and an involuntary increase in tempo which seemed to catch the band off guard. Sounds a bit like that infamous Milli Vanilli concert where the record got stuck, eventually unravelling the awful secret that they never sang on their records...

I hope it's not true, or that she was sick that evening and had to cut some corners to avoid having to cancel the concert or something. Or else my heart would be broken.

Here are some favourite Ladyhawke.
