Kamp! + JBAG (+ some Lifelike)

Speaking of Discotexas in the last post; one of their upcoming releases is our favourite Polish band Kamp!'s single "Cairo". It was one of our favourite songs during the Polish tour we supported back in January. It had such an epic feel that really suited their awesome live shows. Now it very deservedly get released together with remixes from Moullinex, Social Disco Club and JBAG. There's a good chance you'll hear more about this release, but as a teaser we want you to hear our favourite of the remixes:

Kamp! - Cairo (JBAG remix) by JBAG London

here's another couple of favourite remixes from the Franco-Italian-British duo:

Ladyhawke 'My Delirium (JBAG's hot pop remix) by JBAG London

Voltaire Twins 'D.I.L. (JBAG's hot pop remix)' by JBAG London

Voltaire Twins was recently remixed by Lifelike, who after a couple of weaker remixes are back in "This Boy's in Love"/"Epic Last Song" form:

Ren Riz - Swamp

A month ago we posted a new Beaumont remix of Ren Riz's "Swamp". It was a remix we liked and our eyes hit a new wonder from Australia; Ren Riz.

24 years old from Melbourne but not a newcomer at all, he started making hiphop and oldschool electro beats in the early 2000s. He actually released an instrumental hiphop album under the name Crytearia. A trip to Paris a couple of years ago got him interested in electronic music coming out on labels like Institubes and Ed Banger, and it wasn't long before he began focusing on electro music under the name Ren Riz.

Now he's releasing his "spaced out disco meets hard hitting electro" debut single "Swamp" on Stop Listen Dance Records. It's out now on Beatport and will be released further on other digital stores June 27.

Except the Beaumont remix mentioned earlier, remixes from Swiss faves Flashworx and Flecker are on the debut release. Swedish duo F.O.O.L also made a massive remix that we can share with you people.

And for all you others that also are as new with Ren Riz as we were a month ago, here's an add up of demos, remixes and unreleased tracks from Ren Riz. This guy is good!

Fine new acquaintance: Beaumont

This is a really nice new acquaintance for me, Beaumont from Sydney, Australia. Once again these Australians make great electronic music.

He has not yet been hyped on all the blogs around the world, but that is soon to come because this sounds quite amazing! The touch from the eighties synth sound in a modern way catches your ears when you hear Beaumont’s instrumental electro. His own material is kind of dreamy and his remixes provides the original with an extra flavour. My favourites from Beaumont are “Last Night”, “Memoir” and the remixes of Ladyhawke and Empire Of The Sun.

Enough talking, hear this guy out and follow his near future at his MySpace.

Beaumont – Last Night

Beaumont – Memoir

Beaumont – Memoir (Beaumont's Golden Inverse Remix)

Beaumont – Neon Dawn (Intro Mix)

Beaumont – Recital

Empire Of The Sun – We Are The People (Beaumont Remix)

Ladyhawke – Back Of The Van (Beaumont's Zirconium Throne Remix)

Kylie Minogue – 2 Hearts (Beaumont's Reprise)

Oasis – Don't Look Back In Anger (Beaumont's Paper Insect Remix)

Build

Jason Reid, aka Build, dropped a new terrific remix the other day. This time of not so daft punk rockers Phoenix' free download single "1901" from their upcoming album due out in May.

Phoenix - 1901 (Build Remix)

I used to listen a lot to rude French indie rockers The Teenagers, and once again mr Build' does a great job.

The Teenagers - Feeling Better (Build Remix)

It seems we are slowly posting all of the gazillion Ladyhawke remixes. On the other hand, chances are that we'll be sitting on some retirement home somewhere around 2050 when we're finally done..

Ladyhawke - Back of the Van (Build Remix)

And the same goes of course for Cut Copy.

A week and a day...

We've been up a week and a day, so it's time to summarize the last eight days. There were a lot of small details to prepare (mostly consisting of trying to remember the passwords to different Google/Blogger/Gmail accounts, or so it seemed). But then again, it's always a lot more practical things than you anticipate when you start a project. You can always take some comfort in the fact that there are always people worse off than you though. Just think about everything Darth Vader had to fix when building the Death Star, and he had to build it twice!

Anyways, there were a few things that happened last week that we didn't have time to bring up. First of all, electro pop icon/Eurovision contestant Sébastien Tellier played in Stockholm together with Swedish singer/songwriter Laleh. The show was aired on Swedish public service TV-channel SVT2, so I caught a glimpse of the rerun on Saturday. Tellier seemed to put in a good performance, which also is what I heard from people who attended the concert. It seems the most memorable thing of the show, however, was when Monsieur Tellier didn't recognize the voice or picture of Lykke Li, who were present via telephone, for whatever reason, and who opened Tellier's shows in Britain. Funny stuff.

I Like both Tellier and Lykke Li, and there are quite a few excellent remixes of both of them, so here are a few. I'm quite indifferent to Laleh though, so I won't bother posting anything with her.

Sébastien Tellier - Kilometer (Donovan Remix)

Sébastien Tellier - Roche (Breakbot Remix)

Sébastien Tellier - Divine (Danger Remix)

Lykke Li - Breaking It Up (Familjen Remix)

Lykke Li - Little Bit (Gigamesh Remix)

Friendly Fires - I'm Good, I'm Gone (Lykke Li cover)

In other news Kiwi synth rocker Pip Browne, better known as Ladyhawke, played at Melkweg in Amsterdam last Tuesday, before taking her tour to Germany. I love her, but the concert got very mixed reviews, with my sources in Amsterdam suspecting she sang playback, complete with all-male backing vocalists with suspiciously feminine voices, and an involuntary increase in tempo which seemed to catch the band off guard. Sounds a bit like that infamous Milli Vanilli concert where the record got stuck, eventually unravelling the awful secret that they never sang on their records...

I hope it's not true, or that she was sick that evening and had to cut some corners to avoid having to cancel the concert or something. Or else my heart would be broken.

Here are some favourite Ladyhawke.
