Arches - There's a Place

Our Belgian duo Arches are back with this new single "There's a Place" and it will be out on Columbia Records April 7. The duo consists of Seba aka Moonlight Matters and Jochen from Sound of Stereo, and as we've written before about these guys, is that with such a great combination of masterminds nothing can really go wrong. Putting out your debut single on Columbia is pretty not wrong for example.

Arches is the new duo consisting of Seba (Moonlight Matters) and Jochen (Sound of Stereo). So when my friend Seba sent over this fresh tune I had no other choice than to tell you guys about this new Belgian super-duo Arches.

Arches have already got recognition from The Magician and they have been included on the two latest Magic Mixtapes.

This new tune coming from them is a rework of Whitney Houston’s "It’s Not Right But It’s Okay", where they have pitched down her voice. Really diggin' the track and it also comes as a free DL.

Moonlight Matters remix of Electric Guest

Latest remix from Mr. Vandevoorde aka Moonlight Matters is this one of Electric Guest. The remix is only a couple of hours old and as fresh it's in time as fresh it's in the sound. It's also a free DL, so get your own copy here.

Owlle + Moonlight Matters

We're big fans of Moonlight Matters, as you all know. Of the whole Belgian Disco Mafia, he's probably the discoest of the discoey. And while a lot of his colleagues, especially that guy The Sorcerer (or is it The Wizard?), have moved more towards deep house and retro 90's house, Mr Matters have moved more towards early/mid-80's electro disco. When it comes to strong female vocals, you still gotta love his string-filled remixes. His latest one is a remix of French singer Owlle, who recently toured with a certain Sébastien Tellier, and who will feature on a forthcoming Moonlight Matters single. I think this will make you look forward to further collaborations between the two.

Our good friend Moonlight Matters released the EP "Come For Me" one month ago on Kitsuné and now he released the official video for the theme song featuring Gustaph.



The EP consists of three tracks and I must say that the other two tracks are actually my faves. Even if all three are high quality marked music by Moonlight Matters I prefer "Standing Up For Love" most of them. Also in this EP Moonlight Matters has explored the 80s and 90s pop music and put that together with his disco sound, lovely super-match!

Charlotte Gainsbourg + Moonlight Matters

One of my favourite tunes of the last month is Moonlight Matters' remix of Charlotte Gainsbourg's "Anna". Monsieur Matters take the melancholic but rather fast original and slows it down to a more danceable speed and fuses the great pop with disco. The result makes you think of the early disco music where the songs had to be danceable but at the same time proper songs. And despite currently being sunk deep (literally) in the current garage/deep house trend, I'll always be a sucker for sweet melodies like this.

Speaking of great remixes; how about a meaty disco rework of everyone's favourite indie queen Lana Del Rey by one of our (many) favourite Belgian disco kings, Moonlight Matters? Yeah, I thought so.

Lo-Fi-Fnk + Moonlight Matters

Our friend and also one of the absolute top remixers right now in the world, Moonlight Matters, has come up with this disco remix of Swedish Lo-Fi-Fnk, who are steaming hot right now with their kind of comeback record "The Last Summer" released yesterday. Nice combination of Swedish pop and the disco sound of Moonlight Matters. Boom!

Shindu makes a homage

The latest Kitsuné release is produced by our Belgian friend and mastermind Moonlight Matters and it's Shindu's homage to Siouxsie and the Banshees' "Happy House" from 1980.



You can hear that Moonlight Matters is behind this great release, his mark of a great disco production leads you through the whole track. Is Tropical + Moonlight Matters

Speaking of Moonlight Matters by the way, he's made a remix of new Kitsuné signings Is Tropical. The trio are releasing their debut album on the French label on June 13. Before that you can download the original of "The Greeks" for free via their Official.fm page:

Alex Winston + Moonlight Matters

Moonlight Matters's latest remix is of Detroit singer/songwriter Alex Winston who currently is working on an album with production help from The Knocks. That sounds like it could be something worth checking out. Much like this remix, which is just as good as you've come to expect from Mr Matters.

One of our favourite tracks this spring has been Anoraak's remix of Pacific!'s new single "Unspoken" featuring El Perro Del Mar. This one is so fresh and it's steamin' hot! Moonlight Matters started chatting with me and told me he just uploaded this really great remix of our English favourite girl Ellie Goulding. It's so hot I can't write no more...than it's hot...and that I love the Moroder vibe of it...and that whatever Moonlight Matters touches it turns into gold...hot gold...

Exclusive interview: Moonlight Matters

In early December we presented to you the new act Moonlight Matters, former music maker Seba of Villa that now gone solo. And what a splendid start he has made so far, we believe 2011 will be the year of Moonlight Matters. Here we interrogated him what's going on in his life:

We've got to know you for not that long ago as Moonlight Matters, but you've been around for a while with Villa. What is the story about you going solo?
Though writing and producing the Villa music resulted in some good times and nice tunes, it had been a challenge for the three of us too work together from the start. Our difference in opinions/ambitions/taste seemed to become ever more irreconcilable. Since I wrote and produced the tunes Fredo & Thang decided they wanted to continue Villa without me and work with another writer/producer...

You made it into our top list of the best tracks from 2010 with your Digitalism remix, quite a start for your new project, hehe. Honoured?

Along with this interview we have your latest remix of The Drums "Me & The Moon", which also made it into several top lists of last year as one really great track. What is your relation to The Drums?
I just love their organic sound, They are so young but sound like they've always been here. What you hear is what you get, The Beach Boys on speed!!!

And you chose to pitch it down a lot, to a real heavy steady beat. We love it!

I loved putting the vocals in a whole different context, like most of my remixes. In some way this translated to me into a slowbeat Ultravox/Human League/Depeche Mode vibe. Though I know this track wont tear up dance floors, I'm very happy with the mood and the vibe of the result dragging you thru it.

So are we and speaking of remixes, we mentioned in our post a while back that you got some real interesting ones coming up. What to come?
I've currently finished remixes for Ellie Goulding/Clare Maguire/Pacific!/Hercules & The Love Affair and currently working on one for Metronomy with more exciting ones on the shelf. Also interesting is that I've done a track for a new Luc Besson movie with Iggy Pop on vocals.

Oh, sounds really exciting. We can't hardly wait. Are you producing any of your own material also right now or are you focusing on the remixes?
well, I'm currently also in the process of finishing my first Moonlight Matters EP, which will be out soon this year. Really excited and looking forward to this in 2011. I've invited some nice people to join in with the fun...

Could we maybe get one of those nice people to share with our readers?
Haha, all I can say is that it involves a nice brass section and top notch vocals...

I've been passionate about music for a long time and I'm determined to make a statement in 2011! I'm grateful and I hope I can keep on doing this for a while, cause I'm just getting started!

The Drums - Me & The Moon (Moonlight Matters Remix)

Moonlight Matters + Digitalism

German super-duo of Digitalism released their latest EP on Kitsuné in November. It's a solid release but it was when I first got my hands on the remix of "Blitz" by Moonlight Matters I had to make this post.

Moonlight Matters is the solo project of Seba, one of the guys from well-respected Villa. But Moonlight Matters is from now-on the act to keep track off, because Seba was the mastermind behind Villa in producing that lovely sounds of melodic disco. With Villa he remixed everything from old 70s disco to Gorillaz and The C90s. And now this solo project will be the next thing.

With this mighty fine discoish remix of Digitalism's "Blitz", he got me really hooked. This track could actually be on my "Best of 2010". To see if it makes it, keep your eyes open on New Years Eve, when my and Arnie's "Best of 2010" lists are released...
