Joypopp remixed

Back in November we wrote about a couple of really nice Joypopp tracks including the lovely "Volupté". The ever awesome Binary Entertainment  then had the good taste to sign up the tracks and bundle them together into the solid "Ecstatic" EP which precedes a coming album. Added to the release are remixes by Short Circuit, Sferro and Night Drugs.

Of three good remixes my favourite is the one by Night Drugs that makes me think of old house masters like Masters at Work.

Sferro EP "New Output"

An EP that been wanted for a while is finally out. Sferro mentioned his plans for his EP early autumn and we got the chance to preview some snippets and trials. Already back then you could sense that his first EP would be something worth waiting for. During the process some of the first melodies has been exchanged and new stuff has been added and we've been able to hear the whole process, making this release something that it feels that we are a part of. Probably why it's so great!

"New Output" is a solid release from Sferro, who runs Girlfriend Records, one of our favourite 80s inspired labels. I found my favourite tracks in the title track and "Reverie", both with that lovely 80s touch, Sferro takes us back and then home again. The whole release with four tracks comes with a free download and we share two of the tracks here, so go and get the other two over at Girlfriend Records releases page asap! Also, notice the fine cover made by yours truly...

In December we got this fine remix from Sferro of Anoraak's "Crazy Eyes" that we haven't posted yet, it's time for that now before we get the crazy eyes from Sferro himself.

GFR003 - Le Prix

The third release for our friends at the 80s italo label Girlfriend Records is now out. This time it's actually one of our closest friends in the nu italo business; Le Prix. He has once again created a well flavoured italo sound that seems like taken from a 80s road trip along the coast of the western US.

Girlfriend Record's head of chief, great Sferro himself, has made the remix to the B-side. He told us that he wasn't that satisfied because making it in only one night, due to the release today. But I have to disagree with him totally, because I think it's a superb remix.

Then you just have to give all your love to Le Prix and of course to Girlfriend Records, who always give away their releases for free. And because it's free, it's not bad, it's instead awesome nu italo delivered to you. Be grateful!

We've already written about the American nu italo label/blog/producer collective Girlfriend Records with artists like Sferro, Pelifics, HR, Awkoder'89, Illapa, The Sweeps and our buddies Neon Workout and Le Prix. One track that never was included in the previous post is the first release on the label by the head honcho himself, Mr Eric Sferro. Since then I assume he has noted with vengeful eyes that it has taken us forever to post it. Sorry Eric!
