Casual Encounters - Funk Phenomenon Mixtape

It's Friday night which means you need some music for your pre-party right? Problem is, your weekday track lists are getting old and selecting and mixing tracks yourself distracts you from mixing cocktails and getting drunk. The answer to this predicament is of course listening to a good mixtape. And since we're here for you, that's what we're going to post.

Casual Encounters is a duo consisting of Boston producer Chas Bronz and Space Walker Recordings' own Shawn Mac. Besides co-running SWR, Shawn makes great music himself, and the newly formed duo are releasing their first EP in a couple of months. Here's a sweet mix made by Shawn:

SWR003: Lazercat

The third release from Space Walker Recordings is another great one. This time it's Lazercat hailing from Canada. She is an upcoming producer on the electronic dance music scene. This is her fine debut "Nuit Blanche".

She is actually a former violinist and I believe you can hear that in the melodic synth. She felt that she wanted to experience a wider music spectra that only her classical music and decided to give electronic music a shot. For that, we are very happy!

The remix is taken care of our Swiss friends Flashworx, and you can always rely on Mike and Anthony doing a great work putting that extra italo flavour into the track.

SWR002: Claes Rosen

March 15 is the release date of Space Walker Recordings' sophomore release; Swedish progressive house producer Claes Rosen's "Sparkles". Actually, prog house is a bit a narrow a label to put on Mr Rosen, maybe melodic synth house is a more accurate term. The release also includes an 80s italo-flavoured remix by Sare Havlicek, a jazzy chilled out remix by Lithuanians Martin Virgin & South eXpress and a funky French house-style remix by Russian talents SPSM.

The tracks are only available for streaming unfortunately, but label boss Shawn Mac has made it up to us by making this smooth mix that captures the spirit of the Hungary-Dubai based label. Pick the tracks up over at Beatport.

SWR001: Toomy Disco

February 22 marks the debut release of Dubai based label Space Walker Recordings. The label was set up late last year by the three friends Shawn Mac, Holic and Christian Cardwell who all have a vast amount of experience with nu-disco/indie/new wave music. They will be giving you spaced out cosmic grooves on a steady basis.

The first release is Argentinian nu disco act Toomy Disco's "Back From Cosmos". A fan of classic disco and funk he has only recently started to pursue his dream of producing music. He's so fresh in the business that he doesn't even have a MySpace page yet. The release include three original tracks remixed by Marcello Giordani, Ricky Inch and our Swedish hero ODahl.
