Au Revoir Simone

This beautiful female trio from Williamsburg in New York have been doing grand music for a couple of years now. Au Revoir Simone was formed back in 2003 with the name taken from a line Pee-Wee Herman says to a minor character (named Simone) in Tim Burton's "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure". They recorded their first album "Verses of Comfort, Assurance & Salvation" in a basement shower stall that belonged to their manager. Now their third album "Still Night, Still Light" is out and I believe it's a pearl. Dreamy and catchy at the same time.

Today we are going to explore some of their tunes where we compare the original with the best remix of the song according to me. Two of the songs are from "Still Night, Still Light" and four of them are from their second album "The Bird Of Music".

I believe The Teenagers from France have made two really good remixes out of "Shadows" and "Fallen Snow". Disco Pusher, also from New York, remix of "Stars" is also quite nice. And the remix collective RAC (The Remix Artist Collective) have made "Sad Song" into a more of an 80's indie hit.

And as an little extra bonus, if you still want more of Au Revoir Simone, I give you a cover of Electric Light Orchestra's "Here Is The News" along with the original of course. This cover is featured on Buffetlibre's 80's cover project "Rewind 2" as we have mentioned earlier on Tracasseur.
