[Video] Cut Copy - Free Your Mind

Cut Copy rolls out their new Album at the beginning of November (1st in Australia, 4th in the UK, 5th in the US). Until then you can drool over Stellan Skarsgård as a pretty fit cult leader in the new video.

New song from Cut Copy

Cut Copy launched a new tune "Let Me Show You" at the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago, and it's a really nice one that reminds me a bit of Primal Scream and New Order. Good to have Cut Copy back in great shape!

The video is very epileptic but if you stare at the centre for at least 20 seconds and then close your eyes you will something else.

The Rapture - Sail Away remixes

DFA released streams of upcoming The Rapture remix EP "Sail Away". Originally supposed to be released in December, the new date is January 17. That means you have four days to decide which of the remixes by Aeroplane, Cosmic Kids and Cut Copy is your favourite. I'm voting Cut Copy I think - sorry for being harsh on your album guys, you know I'll always love you!!! :'(

In case you haven't grown tired of The Rapture's epic "How Deep Is Your Love" (I know I haven't), here's a nice remix by Pat Lok and Cyclist.

EDIT: We weren't the only ones who liked this particular remix. It actually won DFA's remix contest - out of 149 entries. Congrats to Pat Lok and Cyclist!

The Miracles Club + Cut Copy

As you know Cut Copy is not only one of the best bands in the world, they also run the excellent Cutters label with artists like Das Moth, Nile Delta and Knightlife. Their latest signing is The Miracles Club from Portland, Oregon (lovely place by the way!). The trio stir together ingredients like classic Chicago House (check out their covers of "Can You feel It" and "Jack Your Body"), world music and psychedelic pop with contemporary dance music into a very special brew, as shown in this video:

Cut Copy are also nice people, so they give away a remix they've made of the song "Light of Love" to all members of their mailing list. So if you're on it you already have this, and if you're not, just sign up on the Cutters website.

Cut Copy + Azari & III

The first single from Cut Copy's longed album is "Take Me Over", that we posted back in November, revealing some really close influences, even if it's pure Cut Copy magic. It's Cut Copy at their best, a perfect track that makes us want to listen to the whole album right now.

The Tim Goldsworthy remix of it has been around for a while but the Azari & III's is kind of fresh. So fresh that we share it with you. Take us over!

Cut Copy with the first single from upcoming LP "Zonoscope"

Always loved Cut Copy are back with the first single from their longed upcoming album "Zonoscope", which is out on February 4 in Australia, February 7 in Europe, and February 8 in North America.

"Take Me Over" is a typical Cut Copy track, where you can take part of Cut Copy at their best. Love to hear a new track from our faves Cut Copy. This track puts them right back where they should be, and not in that 60s land they were with a track back in July.

Cut Copy - "Take Me Over" (Radio Edit) Premiere by modularpeople

Even if it's a great track, it reminds me a little of these two classic tracks by Fleetwood Mac and Talking Heads...

New track from Cut Copy

A new track from everybody's favourite band Cut Copy. If they were inspired of the 70s and 80s earlier, this track has the flavours of the 60s. Not one of my favourite tracks from Cut Copy, I hope the album that are to be released January 2011 got another vibe than the 60s surf pop.

Tracasseur one year anniversary

Hip hip hooray! Today it's exactly one year since Tracasseur's first post saw the sun, it was about the Belgian duo Aeroplane. Other acts that was up on Tracasseur in the beginning was The Golden Filter and Fear of Tigers. So already from the beginning there was some good quality of music passing through Tracasseur and further on to you guys. We have been writing about all kinds of music this year, everything from obscure italo via nu disco to the housiest house.

During the year that has passed we have also developed the blog. In the beginning we used MediaFire to share the music but since last summer we have our own server with the great music. It makes downloading faster. At the same time we introduced our preview player that was one of the big wishes from our readers, and for a while ago we even pimped it further.

We also believe that we have gained more experience in writing. And we also believe that the quality of Tracasseur has gained and still does. One of the things we can point to is the increase of visitors. An increase that isn't slowing down at all, and for that we love our readers and promise to keep our good work up for a long long time, because; Tracasseur is here for you!

Thanks for all the comments, the sharing, the support and the love-talk during the year, thank you! And keep coming back to us with your music, your point of views and especially the love-talk...

Big love from Tracasseur to all our readers!!!

Cut Copy + ODahl

We've been raving about ODahl, who have been making some awesome music recently. He seems to be on a mission to remix all classic tracks that already have been remixed to death, just to show how it's done I guess. Here's his take on a Cut Copy classic. May we expect remixes of "1901", "Music Sounds Better With You", "Fancy Footwork" and "Ce Jeu" soon?

Just another Midsummer's Eve

Today is Midsummer's eve: a very important pre-christian holiday for Swedes, but evidently it is celebrated all around the world from Canada to southern Brazil. Who would have known that.

Anyway I really don't like traditional Swedish summer songs so I decided to post my favourite productions by Joakim instead. Maybe you think he is Swedish or Norwegian but he is in fact French. I've seen him live twice and he has a truly unique sound, something similar to Lindstrom and that nu disco electro wave. So I say to you in Swedish: "Glad Midsommar!!"

The Boys and The Noize

Boys Noize's real name is Alexander Ridha, a 26 year old electro-tech producer and DJ from Hamburg, now living in Berlin. It is also the name of Ridha's label, Boysnoize Records, which he set up in 2005. Between the ages of six and fourteen, he practiced piano and drums.

Under the name Boys Noize, he has released records on French label Kitsuné Music, Tiga's Turbo Records label, and on DJ Hell's International DeeJay Gigolo Records. He has also remixed tracks for Tiga, Para One, Feist, Kreeps and Depeche Mode, as well as popular remixes of British indie anthems "Banquet" by Bloc Party and "Everyday I Love You Less and Less" by Kaiser Chiefs.

Ridha has also released EPs under the names 909d1sco and Kid Alex. Boys Noize released his debut album "Oi Oi Oi" in September 2007. His new album should come out soon but until then don't miss his gig at Berns, Stockholm on Saturday 25th of April.

Here are some of my favourite songs by them Boys....

Sébastien Tellier - L'Amour et La Violence (Boys Noize Remix)
The Love and The Violence...

Riot In Belgium - The Acid Never Lies (Boys Noize 909 Disco Remix)
Well i think the acid lies all the time...anyway its a good remix by them boys.

Para One - Dudun-Dun (Boys Noize Remix)
The original is great, but this might be even better.
Great vocals to a supercool song.

Cut Copy - Lights & Music (Boys Noize Happy Birthday Remix)
Dunno why they call it happy birthday remix....
So much better than the original, sorry Gonzales....

Boys Noize - Shine Shine (Original Mix)
Another great vocoder flavoured song by them boys.

Build

Jason Reid, aka Build, dropped a new terrific remix the other day. This time of not so daft punk rockers Phoenix' free download single "1901" from their upcoming album due out in May.

Phoenix - 1901 (Build Remix)

I used to listen a lot to rude French indie rockers The Teenagers, and once again mr Build' does a great job.

The Teenagers - Feeling Better (Build Remix)

It seems we are slowly posting all of the gazillion Ladyhawke remixes. On the other hand, chances are that we'll be sitting on some retirement home somewhere around 2050 when we're finally done..

Ladyhawke - Back of the Van (Build Remix)

And the same goes of course for Cut Copy.

Cut Copy - Hearts On Fire (Build Remix)

Brand new live video with Cut Copy

We had the fantastic opportunity to see Cut Copy live when they visited Stockholm late last year. Here is a brand new video of them performing in San Fransisco. Cut Copy was a blast live! Next time you get the chance, go and see them!

The Hoff still loves you

It's Valentine's Day, in case you've missed it, so I thought I'd post some love songs. It's not really a top 10, more like 10 tracks from the top of my head (or Winamp rather). I've chosen some more uptempo tracks to make your heart beat faster for several reasons.

The Concretes - Keep Yours (Pacific! Remix)

BMX - Refero Beach

Bikini - Tonight

Sally Shapiro - He Keeps Me Alive

Coeur De Pirate - Comme Des Enfants (Le Matos Andy Carmichael Remix)

Anoraak - Nightdrive With You

Hellogoodbye - Here (In Your Arms) (Young Americans Remix)

Cut Copy - Out There On The Ice

Whitest Boy Alive - Golden Cage (Fred Falke Remix)

The last one is my favourite track at the moment; French electro funk maestro Breakbot's remix of Swedish indietronica act Pacific!. I slept on this one, missing the first few appearences in the blogosphere in June last year, and the (moderate) hype in December. Complete with trademark basslines and piano melodies, it's a true gem. 27 plays in the last seven days according to Last.fm says it all...

Pacific! - Hold Me (Breakbot Remix)

Aeroplane

Aeroplane is a Belgium based Dj/Producer duo consisting of Stephen Fasano and Vito Deluca. Their music is a mix of psychedelic guitars, pop keys, melancholic waves, disco beats and catchy basslines. They released their first 12" in 2007, "Caramellas/Aeroplane", on Eskimo Recordings.
They immediately got positive reactions from the biggest DJ's and producers around because of their fresh and different sound.

Due to the success of their 12"'s, they've been asked to do a lot of remixes in 2007 & 2008 , for artist like Cobra Dukes, Das Pop, Lindström, Cut Copy, Grace Jones, MGMT, Bloc Party, Friendly Fires, etc…

Aeroplane will go into the studio in February /March of 2009 to record there already anticipated album.

This is our vacuum mix #1. Pretty much all they have done since august 2007.
