Pat Lok Update

A quick happy birthday to our buddy Pat Lok, who's had his excellent "Could be Mine" featuring Patrick Baker remixed by Red Milk, Chores and Wantigga (the latter two are free downloads). Great stuff all around, but I gotta say that the Chores remix is the fave.

Pat Lok - Could Be Mine

New stuff from our buddy Pat Lok, and it's great as usual. Especially the last minute. "Could Be Mine" features Patrick Baker on vocals and is released on Kastle's Symbols Recordings. Do the guys a favour and heart it over at Hype Machine.

Pat Lok ft. Bear Mountain - Same Hearts

So, this happened today. Pat Lok released his new EP "Same Hearts". It's released on Holographic People and features, apart from lovely vocals from Bear Mountain, remixes by Oxford, Shelby Grey and Ride the Universe. My favourite of the remixes is the percussive 80's funk of Ride the Universe - glad to see the boys being in good form - but I still prefer the original which is available for free with a simple click on the like button on Pat's Facebook page.

[Free download] Pat Lok - Body II Me

Pat Lok is back with this track available for free download if you just 'like' his Facebook page. But of course you do that already. Pat describes it as a house jam with all them sampley chords the kids like. Which is obviously true.

[Free download] Way Out West + Pat Lok

Veteran duo Way Out West consists of Nick Warren and Jody Wisternoff. One of our favourite British Columbia acts, Pat Lok, has remixed their 2000 track "UB Devoid", and we like it a lot.

Download it for free on Pat's Facebook page.

Goldroom + Pat Lok

Really digging Goldroom's new single "Sweetness Alive" with its laidback summery feel. If you prefer something even more clubby for the late-night peaktime dancefloor you might opt for Pat Lok's remix with it's growling bassline, hammering house piano and cowbells. Great stuff that you might already have heard on The Magician's Magic Tape 28 or A.N.D.Y's Mixtape 9.

Pat Lok - Remember + Supreme Action League remix

Don't worry guys, we're slowly getting up to speed. A lot of work, a couple of things to organize and some early spring colds means we have are a little backed up. I don't know in what end to start, so why not start with one of our favourite Vancouver producers, Pat Lok, who released a remix of The Supreme Action League last week. It's got a really nice deep feel to it.

Pat is also releasing this chill and summery tropical jam soon on On The Fruit Records. They're kind enough to give it away for free when it hits 5.000 plays, so hit the play button people!

The Rapture - Sail Away remixes

DFA released streams of upcoming The Rapture remix EP "Sail Away". Originally supposed to be released in December, the new date is January 17. That means you have four days to decide which of the remixes by Aeroplane, Cosmic Kids and Cut Copy is your favourite. I'm voting Cut Copy I think - sorry for being harsh on your album guys, you know I'll always love you!!! :'(

BONUS:

In case you haven't grown tired of The Rapture's epic "How Deep Is Your Love" (I know I haven't), here's a nice remix by Pat Lok and Cyclist.

EDIT: We weren't the only ones who liked this particular remix. It actually won DFA's remix contest - out of 149 entries. Congrats to Pat Lok and Cyclist!

Pat Lok - No Shame EP

The latest release from On The Fruit Records is from a guy we've been keeping our eyes on for quite a while. Vancouver producer and DJ Pat Lok, recently came home from Mexico where he played a couple of shows with another favourite Vancouver native of ours; FM Attack. Lok has been going from strength to strength and this release is just awesome, so it's about time we put our spotlight on him.

The "No Shame" EP includes remix support from Brooklyn's Bit Funk, our Binary buddy Goldroom, Washingtonian Volta Bureau, and German producer OHYEAH. Great stuff all of it, but I have to say I have a soft spot for OHYEAH's disco house smoker; it's super funky, super happy and super cheesy (in a good way). Hope you like it as much as we do, since Pat is kind enough to share it for free with our readers!
