Pat Lok - No Shame EP

The latest release from On The Fruit Records is from a guy we've been keeping our eyes on for quite a while. Vancouver producer and DJ Pat Lok, recently came home from Mexico where he played a couple of shows with another favourite Vancouver native of ours; FM Attack. Lok has been going from strength to strength and this release is just awesome, so it's about time we put our spotlight on him.

The "No Shame" EP includes remix support from Brooklyn's Bit Funk, our Binary buddy Goldroom, Washingtonian Volta Bureau, and German producer OHYEAH. Great stuff all of it, but I have to say I have a soft spot for OHYEAH's disco house smoker; it's super funky, super happy and super cheesy (in a good way). Hope you like it as much as we do, since Pat is kind enough to share it for free with our readers!

Bit Funk on Hedkandi

It's not every day we write about Ministry of Sound or their Hedkandi releases, but this one, judging by the names on the cover, might very well be worth checking out. I know at least one track is for sure; Bit Funk's remix of M-Gee's solid, albeit cheesy and rather generic, 2003 track "Bodyswerve".

Bit Funk makes the best use of British soul diva Mica Paris' vocals and makes an updated version of the type of garage house that was my bread and water during much of the 90s. If you like this half as much as I do, you'll want to check out names like Joe Clausell, Kerri Chandler, Cevin Fisher and Paul Johnson.

Justin Faust - Girl Talk EP

Last Friday Justin Faust released his new EP "Girl Talk" on Discotexas. Bad timing, since we're amidst the summer holidays. Or at least I've been. Then again, Jonny would probably argue that I've been on vacation since around February. On the upside I had the opportunity to meet up with Justin in Munich where we talked about the EP (and of course how much we're looking forward to the new Jersey Shore season). Not surprisingly he was very happy with the EP; both his originals and the remixes. It seems we, him and the Discotexas people aren't the only ones since it went straight up to top 5 on Beatport's Indie Dance/Nu Disco chart. Well deserved!

To me, G.L.O.V.E.S' remix narrowly edges out Bit Funk's and Herr Styler's strong remixes as my favourite of the bunch. Great to hear some new stuff from one of the true great Australian acts. Let's hope he pulls a Bag Raiders very soon. If he does we'll try to convince him to end his World tour in Stockholm, oh let's say next spring?

Of all the great music we should write about but end up not writing about (since we really need to hire some interns), Discotexas' last release with Lazydisco needs a mention. Lazydisco made that awesome remix of Toro y Moi last winter remember? The EP contains more of that smooth and funky lazydisco, plus some great remixes.

After this little round-up we are happy to spread the news that our Polish darlings Kamp! will release their next single on Discotexas. That's something to look forward to!

The full remix package for Grum's "Through The Night"

British Grum are soon to release the track "Through The Night", to be more precise, October 4 is the exact date. But already today you can take a listen to the full 10-track release here with a bunch of excellent remixes of an excellent track. With remixes by estimable acts such as Tom de Neef, Bit Funk, Swiss Menergy, Perseus, Beaumont and Grum himself, it's a very fine release.

Grum is also a kind soul and share these two fine remixes from the release with you guys.

Vindata remix of Jump Jump Dance Dance

Got an email from Branden in the American duo Vindata yesterday. They've made a fantastic remix of Jump Jump Dance Dance's "Modern Eyes". It was pure love right away. I've heard the remixes that are made of this track earlier of Bit Funk and Beni, they're also great but Vindata takes the track into another level. It's that italo beat thing that I got that soft thing for. Take a listen and decide yourself.

And here's the other two remixes that I wrote about. As mentioned above, also good remixes.

Justin Faust got Panic Attack!

Our good friend Justin Faust has recently come up with a fresh and awesome remix of British beauty Florrie. Not long ago Justin released the great EP "Holdin' On" and he follows up with this fine remix.

By this time, if you are a follower of Tracasseur, you know that Justin is the pride of Munich in Germany. You also know that he's the successor of Braxe, Falke and Lifelike. That he has been to Sweden several times to dj isn't any secret but that Tracasseur plans to bring him over in a short while, that was news to you...

Florrie is a young girl living in Kent (not to be mistaken that she lives with the Swedish rock/synth band with the same name). In Kent she is hanging out at Xenomania, a production house where she makes her music. And this is a talented girl for sure, not only that she is a guitarist, singer and songwriter, she is also a fantastic drummer (see the video further down).

Florrie - Panic Attack (Justin Faust Remix)

Speaking of Falke, he also made a remix of "Panic Attack" a while ago. Bit Funk and favourite Def Starr have also made remixes of it.

And finally, Florrie the fantastic drummer!

A new visitor

They duo are from London and Visitor is the name of the band. They used to be known as Cobra Dukes but not any more then. I really like the turn from the Dukes to a more kind of catchy indietronica with greater ambitions.

"Too Far Gone" is their second release and it's brand new. It's going to be a hot tune!

Visitor - Too Far Gone

The song "Los Feeling" came out about a month ago and found the blogosphere right away. So now there is a lot of good remixes of that song out there. I have chosen to post these one's where I believe they are all pretty damn good in their own kind of way. The "Rough Mix" is actually the original song.
