Ellingson is the the new project from Aaron Ellingson, one third of the Canadian band Young Empires. With this new project he tries out a new side of himself and it sounds really interesting. Really like his take on Bruno Mars' monster hit "Grenade" and how he turns it into something really good.
The other remix from Ellingson in this first batch will be his take on Serena Ryder's "Stompa". We also know that a lot of things are in the coming and we will let you know as soon we get some new stuff from Mr Ellingson.

Tracasseur premiere: The return of Young Empires
It's been a while since we heard from one of our favourite bands. Actually it's been too long. But tomorrow the wait is over when Toronto's Young Empires release their new single "Enter Through The Sun" on hometown label Pirates Blend. And tomorrow isn't just any other day; it's 11.11.11, a date that in some belief systems marks an important transformation in consciousness and represents a most spiritual and sacred time on this planet. A time where we can come together as a global community and uplift ourselves through dancing, chanting and loving. So, let's join the band as they enter through the sun.
And if you're the more convenient type, you can at least buy the single tomorrow, and follow Young Empires on Facebook.

By the way, you can expect a couple of remixes early next week too.

Tonight in Stockholm!
It's time for the second Virgin Ears at Debaser Medis. This time we're proud to offer the good citizens of Stockholm two amazing bookings in our dream booking Bag Raiders from Australia and the hyped Canadian trio Young Empires. This will be a night for the books! We were so happy when we managed to catch these two acts while touring Europe. Sweden should be extra happy because it's the premiere for both of the bands to gig on Swedish soil. We actually stole the premiere for Bag Raiders from the big Emmaboda festival later this summer. Something we are extra proud for of course!
All of you probably know everything about these bands already but for you who doesn't, some short information.
■ BAG RAIDERS (AU)
"Shooting Stars" from 2009 is already a modern classic and earlier this year they released their self-titled album. You can describe their music as a mix of everything of the best you've heard, it's twisted electro pop, funky basslines, house beats, italo piano and good old nu disco, and it's called Bag Raiders. Damn good and probably one of the best bookings to come to Sweden this year. Hopefully we will also get this sing-along of "Shooting Stars" tonight:
Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars
Bag Raiders - Way Back Home
Bag Raiders - Snake Charmer
■ YOUNG EMPIRES (CA)
The electro-punk-trio from Canada had a huge 2010. We were among the first blogs to ever write about these guys and after short amount of time its kind of exploded for them. A tour in the UK during last summer continued with a gig in Bogota, Colombia with Jamiroquai and then they were the supporting act for Chromeo on their Canadian tour. Also add that their latest release was in the Kitsuné 10 compilation, a proof of being the next big thing. That you really can't stand still while listening to them is also a good proof.

Young Empires - Rain of Gold
Young Empires - Glory of the Night
Besides the bands playing live we will of course entertain the dance floor like we always do, in style! Along with our friends of La Petite Putain and Daniel Odelstad.
If you are a Stockholmer, you can't miss out on this one, because then you will get the red card for life...

Two Door Cinema Club + Young Empires
Young Empires just finished supporting Chromeo on their latest tour. Apart from being pretty huge, that sounds like a whole lot of fun. Here's a remix we found on the internets that they've done of Two Door Cinema Club that also is a whole lot of fun.

"The Earth Plates Are Shifting"
New demo from one of the top newcomers of 2010; Young Empires. I can already now tell you that they will make it into my "Best of 2010" list, what track I won't say now...It's been a great year for Young Empires, coming from nowhere and they've hit the world with a massive bang. Since last speaking with them they've been down to Bogota with Jamiroquai, and they will be doing some dates with Chromeo in Canada next year. And we're hoping to bring them to Sweden during 2011.
Unique and exciting sound and every track or remix during 2010 have been truly great. This new demo ain't no exception.

Young Empires + French Horn Rebellion
This year's best acquaintance Young Empires sent us this new remix of album debutants French Horn Rebellion. Match made in heaven? Almost, as close it can be.Young Empires, the dance punk trio from Toronto, who've hit the charts and been hyped in the blogosphere lately (for example by us with six posts since May), are here with their latest remix. This time of Brooklyn duo French Horn Rebellion, who are about to release their full-length debut "The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion" November 15. "This Moment" is a single from that album, awesome funky tune that will keep you going. The remix is as great, with that Young Empires sound that we've learned to love.

Young Empires remix by The FranDiscos
We've gone Young Empires berserk lately. Two posts in a row about a band that we also wrote about only a couple of days ago?! Yep, that's the reality we live in, if you been starstruck. This was a great remix of "Rain of Gold" that we got from The Frandiscos, who also are from Toronto as Young Empires, that I had to share with you. It's a remix very true to the original but 3.29 into the track there's something more going on that I really like.

More of Young Empires
The next big thing are about to hit it off for sure. Young Empires from Toronto, who we were one of the first blogs to write about are about to tour in the UK. The Brits should be very happy, because this band got this funky sound that make you move your feet. This is the schedule for the UK tour:July 27 – Madame JoJo's / White Heat, London
July 29 – Start The Bus, Bristol
July 30 – Koko / Club NME, London
July 31 – Audio / The Recommender, Brighton
August 1 – The Captain's Rest, Glasgow
August 3 – The Flowerpot, London
To celebrate their arrival to the UK they have made a fine remix of British Sunday Girl's "Self Control", a track we wrote about not long ago. Young Empires remix are more mellow than Fenech-Soler's remix and it also suits the track. You can sense the sound that are characteristic for Young Empires. Nice remix!
Sunday Girl - Self Control (Young Empires Remix)
They also got a new track/demo out named "Against the Wall". Ohh it's so good, the perfect track that will get you going this summer.
Young Empires - Against The Wall (Demo)
I also wanted to share an older track that we haven't posted before with you guys so you really can get to know Young Empires. Don't forget to show your love to these three fine gentlemen from Toronto at their MySpace.

Another new fine track from Young Empires
Got this new track from the guys in my new great discovery Young Empires. As I wrote back in the beginning of May, they could be the next big thing. Interesting sound of their own with catchy beats. This track is a little more mellow but as great like their other few tracks they've made so far. Remember they only started in October last year, so the future are theirs. Keep your eyes open for the upcoming EP, it's going to be huge!

Introducing Young Empires
Wow! This can be the next thing for sure. Found this Toronto band Young Empires via one of Tracasseur's finest supporters Ingaborg from Serbia. Thanks Ingaborg! The 3-piece around twenty-something have found an interesting sound of their own that makes you want to move your body. It's catchy and it got flutes (!) yep you read right: flutes. They combine the flute with some post-punk feeling with a catchy disco beat. Sounds interesting? I understand it does, it's ok to press the play button on the player while continue reading about these fine young empires of Toronto.
Young Empires started out as late as October 2009, therefore they only got some demos at their MySpace but they've told us that they are working on their first EP as we write this post. Once complete, they plan to distribute their new sound the good-old-fashioned way; by hitting the road, and hitting it hard. I also believe when the EP is out, the climb to the top will begin.
The guys behind the next big thing are bassist Jake Palahnuk, guitarist Robert Aaron Ellingson and GoldenGirl's Matthew Vlahovich, who is no stranger to the Toronto music scene. And Jake said to us in a quippy way: "We're writing tracks that make you feel wealthy, attractive, powerful; a soundtrack to your haute life, if you will."
Remember where you read about Young Empires in their early stage of their career and remember to bow to them at their MySpace and Facebook.
