Stereocliché Records' debut EP Neon Workout

More talented friends: Hafid, our main Swiss chocolate pusher, unofficial Flashworx manager/adviser/friend and Sweden lover, have set up his own label, called Stereocliché. The musical profile will be pretty broad, but there are some familiar names among the first scheduled releases. The honour of debuting goes to music, analogue synth and video games expert/nerd and producer of cheesy, slightly NSFW videos extraordinaire, Neon Workout. There's also a Flashworx album in the pipelines so look out!

Gin Joints

This is a post I've been wanting to write for a while now, but our Best of lists took up all our time and we wanted them be up a bit longer in the top than our regular posts. But now it's time for our Swedish friend Gin Joints.

From the northern parts of Sweden, with his background in hip hop, he now has turned his vision into the more funky 80's disco. "For Tonight" is his second release, and it's as solid so that even Aeroplane featured the Neon Workout remix in his December mixtape. Gin Joints has got a lot of great words out there regarding his first two releases and hopefully he will continue releasing nice funky vibes.

We have waited so long for this, a brand new track from Neon Workout. A new one of his own, so when we're this excited, we skip the talk and do the walk with "Hold Tight". But we must say one thing though, this track will be featured on his upcoming EP on Girlfriend Records.

Last Monday we posted an exclusive track named "Misery" from this EP by Norwegian italo queen HR, today it's time for the full release. "Memory Chord" is released by our friends over at Girlfriend Records, and they always make their releases free to the people.

This EP has been longed and now it's here. HR shows us to make beautiful nu italo with that right mix of the old and the new. This girl is classy! I know that she can handle the synth, I've seen her in action. Just take a listen to "Sandra"...

Fredrick Carlsson

Ok, I need to get some blogging done. The end of the university semester and the World Cup has affected my work-rate adversely (not to mention what six hours of vuvuzelas per day does to my creativity).

First thing I'll share is Swedish producer Fredrick Carlsson's new single "House" that was released on June 6. Fredrick is from Gothenburg, and his music is a mixture of pop, synth and techno and there's something very Swedish in his sound, especially in this track. I don't know what it is, but there's a melancholic feeling that makes me think of other great Swedish electro bands like Lo-Fi-Fnk or The Embassy. That melancholy might come from Swedish electro's close ties with indie pop or influences from old school British synth music. Or it may be a cry from our ancestors with their lonely lives in the middle of some vast pine forrest. I don't know.

One who doesn't have a background in indie music is Neon Workout, who have a background as a big bitpop and chiptune star turned italo disco afficionado. He revamped the track into a purposely crude, early 90s house-flavoured banger. Another longtime Tracasseur favourite and friend, Norwegian Pelifics, chose to turn it into a soft dreamwave track.

Axxe have two tracks up on their MySpace, both of them remixed by rather prominent remixers. One of those below-par bands that try to inflate their value by hiring some cool remixers to rework some tired tracks you say? Well, you couldn't be more wrong. Although I'm a big fan of both Worship and Neon Workout, I have to say that the originals are just as good as the remixes.

Hailing from Montreal, Quebec, the electro-pop duo consisting of Douglas Chow and Icelandic singer Stina Agustsdottir is pretty fresh, as I've said. But that doesn't stop them from already playing at pretty cool places. Today, Friday, they're playing at Divan Orange with Vitaminsforyou and Hexes & Ohs, and on February 26 they're playing at Montreal Electronic Groove Festival. If you're lucky enough to be near eastern Canada you should check them out!

Exclusive goods!

Tracasseur is going exclusive today! Exclusive together with the US-based record label Girlfriend Records that hosts such fine acts like Pelifics, Neon Workout, Le Prix, HR, Sferro and The Sweeps.

First out is a sneak preview directly from a studio in Stockholm, Sweden. Neon Workout is working on a lot of new material. This tune once again features the fine voice of HR, she was featured earlier on "Running In The Night".

New from one of our favourite Swedish nu italo producers, Stockholm-based Neon Workout! Funny thing is that I found out about him via our dear colleagues in the Bay Area at Disco Workout (sometimes you really have to cross the river to get water).

Not only does Christian make perfect 80's italo/hi-NRG/disco tracks. The music is also accompanied with hot semi-softcore-porn logos and videos. Like the video for the new track that dropped today for example:
