So, Chris Glover, better known as Penguin Prison, has remixed fellow New Yorker Ben Wyeth, better known as Hockey, and we like it. Which isn't surprising as we're big fans of both. And speaking of New York and hockey, I can confirm that at least 33 % of Tracasseur are Rangers fans.

So, managing to double-post The Magician's (granted, very good) remix of RAC and Penguin Prison's "Hollywood" just days after Jonny posted it, meant a proper bollocking, a demotion and docking of a weeks pay. Ok, not really, but to get back on the horse I'm crossing my fingers and throw up three other very good remixes of the same song by Cassian, Treasure Fingers and Escort.

Gigamesh + Goldroom

Life must be grand for Josh Legg. Not only is he head honcho at one of the coolest blogs and labels ('blabels') Binary Entertainment, he lives in the lovely city of Los Angeles, California. Probably in a mansion, where he sits by the pool drinking his breakfast champagne while his pedicurist is massaging his feet. It's probably the same pedicurist as Dennis Quaid uses too.

I don't know these things for a fact though, but what I do know is that, besides releasing and blogging about great music, he makes just as great music himself under the moniker Goldroom. His latest remix of Gigamesh will testify to that.

Oliver

I've been raving a lot about Fiero, who I think have approached the whole retro 80s sound with a twist by borrowing more from mid-80s American R&B than early 80s italo synths. That means more funk and more electric guitar solos, and that's always fresh, right?

Another band that I put up there as the stars of Quincy Jones electro is Oliver, a duo comprised of Oliver "Oligee" Goldstein and Vaughn "U-Tern" Oliver. I've been listening to and playing both their awesome remixes and their even more awesome originals for quite a while, the favourite being the slow but ultra cool "Walk With Me".

The latest track they've made is "I Need You", which they will give away for free when it hit 20.000 plays, so put it on repeat people!

He's made a couple more great remixes since we posted his Electric Youth remix back in March, so he's been on our (pretty long) to-do list for a while. We love Velo

Stumbled upon these unsigned London guys of Velo a couple of months back. Were thrilled of their amazing sound. Fell in love. Now I noticed that they still are unsigned but they have finally released their first EP "Trading Alibis" on Eurostar Records.

When I saw the release I heard this remix of Mondkopf. Heavy stuff compared to Velo's kind of 80s guitar based electro pop it took a complete other turn, a good marriage.

Back when I took my first listen of Velo, these three tracks got stuck in my head, especially "White Nights". These tracks are only in low quality so you first can discover Velo and then head over and buy the whole EP with remixes at iTunes, alright!

Earlier this year, they also got a huge hit over at Hype Machine with their remix of Ellie Goulding's "Starry Eyed". A track that have a lot of great remixes, we're especially in love with Monsieur Adi's version but Velo's is also a superb remix. In other words, Velo are not only good in making their own music, they're also good with the remix work.

Monarchy & Penguin Prison + Jamiroquai = Greatness

When two of my favourite acts of 2010 Monarchy and Penguin Prison come up with remixes of classic Jamiroquai, it gets my attention.

Jamiroquai have been around for quite a while now, first release was back in 1992 and they have some classic hits like "Cosmic Girl" and "Virtual Insanity" along with a Grammy award in their backpack. Now their soon to release their seventh studio album "Rock Dust Light Star", last time they released a studio album was five years ago, so the expectations are high. "White Knuckle Ride" is one of the tracks to be featured on the album and it's also the lead-single for the release.

So when I got the news that both Monarchy and Penguin Prison had put their magic touch on the new single from Jamiroquai. It got me a little excited and then the remixes turned out to be fabulous. I don't know how they do, these two fantastic acts, but they always deliver lovely material, these remixes aren't any exceptions.

I can't resist. I just have to. Can't fight the feeling any more. I must post these fine remixes even if the last post also were about Monarchy. Maybe it's against all common sense to make two posts in a row about the same group, but what the heck. These are remixes made of Monarchy on other artists so I can claim the post are about them...

NY-based Penguin Prison who started to show up in the blogosphere with the remix of Marina & the Diamonds "I Am Not A Robot" also has two own tracks out now, where "A Funny Thing" is a pretty amazing one. And my new kings of electro pop Monarchy have made the track even better...

The second remix is of, what I believe the next big blog hype to come, Fyfe Dangerfield's "She Needs Me". Great track and a great remix! First time I heard the remix I thought it was an old song from the 70's that Monarchy made into modern electro pop. I was so wrong, but I'm right that the remix is great!
