Flashmob...

...is the name of French Vitalic's excellent new album that was released two months ago. Flashmob means that a large group of people assembles suddenly in a public place, performs an unusual action for a brief time and then quickly disperse.

You probably remember Spike Jonze's brilliant video "Praise You" for Fatboy Slim. Below is a Swedish Michael Jackson dance tribute shot this summer shortly after he died.

Mister Teaser

After a long week of watching movies at Stockholm Film Festival and playing around with my new dj tool Pacemaker it's time for me to get back in business. Normally I don't post other people's mixtapes but I will do an exception this time.

Portuguese Mister Teaser has a brilliant dj name besides his music taste. Just check out this playlist, it got me sold right away:

Sneaky Sound System - I Love It (Fred Falke Remix)
NightWaves - Invincible (Snow Picnic Remix)
Felix Da Housecat - We All Wanna Be Prince (theAmplid Remix)
Frankmusik - Confusion Girl (Russ Chimes Remix)

Miike Snow - Animal (Treasure Fingers Remix)
Moby - Mistakes (Yuksek Remix)
Telonius - Disco-Tec (Moulinex Remix)

Semi-Automatic Remixes

First of all I must send a big thank you to our fellow Englishman Edwin van Cleef who made me discover this fine track. It was one of the tracks on his mix "Space Disco 3" that we posted a while ago.

The track that I'm talking about is a superb remix of a great alternative rock band also from the UK named The Boxer Rebellion. This rare remix is made of FC Kahuna, of course also from the UK. They take this semi-slow rock song to another level when adding electric beats to singer Nathan Nicholson amazing voice. Great job lads!

I also found another remix of "Semi-Automatic" made of other countrymen; Suds and Soda. And of course I give you the original track.

The Boxer Rebellion - Semi-Automatic (FC Kahuna Remix)

The Boxer Rebellion - Semi-Automatic (Suds and Soda Clash Up)

The Boxer Rebellion - Semi-Automatic

And as a fantastic bonus I will let you hear this great track from My Morning Jacket. The fine voice of Jim James reminds me a lot of Nathan Nicholson's voice and the track is fantastic!

My Morning Jacket - Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Part 2

By the way, the picture is a painting of The Boxer Rebellion (aka The Boxer Uprising). It was a battle between Boxer fighters and the Eight-Nation Alliance 1898–1901 in China.

They're not a band

Stephan J was brought up in the north of Germany by a pair of professional musicians. Naturally he started playing instruments as a kid; violin, later drums, guitar and the piano. After living in London and becoming fascinated by London’s music culture, he started 'playing laptop' in 2008. Since then he's been combining club and electronic music with classical instruments as I'm Not A Band. In 2009 he was joined by Jana D for vocals and live shows and the question is if that doesn't technically makes them a band?

Joypop

In 2009 a guy (a producer) and a girl (a singer) met. They hit it off and the result was Joypop. The only track they've made so far is this piece of adorable synthpop, but they're working on a second track and an EP is in the horizon.

Joypop - Six To Six

Don Diablo on North American tour

Don Diablo is not from France, and not from Spain either despite his Spanish sounding name, but from Holland. He's been as productive as he's been reliable, spitting out great tracks on what has seemed on a daily basis. "I'm Not From France" will be the name of his EP that will be released for free on December 11. All you have to do is sign up on his website! The EP will include remixes from Linus Loves, Cagedbaby, Louis La Roche and Hugo Van Dyk as well as the track "Rave Rave Rave".

On December 10 his north american tour starts in Chicago. After stops in Phoenix, Toronto, Houston and El Paso it finishes in San Diego on December 19. Check his MySpace for exact dates and locations. Also listen to these fresh tracks:

Flashworx

Flashworx is a producer/DJ duo hailing from the Italian part of Switzerland. And what type of music does a pair of italo-swiss guys born in the 80s and heavily influenced by the fashion, music and spirit of that time make? Why, melodic nu italo of course. The pair is currently working on an EP, but in the meantime, here are some rad remixes and a great original track.

Futurecop! - Karate (Flashworx Remix)

Visitor - Los Feeling (Flashworx Remix) (Link fixed!)

Pnau - Embrace (Flashworx Remix)

Keith Masters - I Love To Floss (Flashworx Remix)

Flashworx - Il Était Une Fois

Monarchy cavalcade

I can't resist. I just have to. Can't fight the feeling any more. I must post these fine remixes even if the last post also were about Monarchy. Maybe it's against all common sense to make two posts in a row about the same group, but what the heck. These are remixes made of Monarchy on other artists so I can claim the post are about them...

NY-based Penguin Prison who started to show up in the blogosphere with the remix of Marina & the Diamonds "I Am Not A Robot" also has two own tracks out now, where "A Funny Thing" is a pretty amazing one. And my new kings of electro pop Monarchy have made the track even better...

Penguin Prison - A Funny Thing

Penguin Prison - A Funny Thing (Monarchy Remix)

The second remix is of, what I believe the next big blog hype to come, Fyfe Dangerfield's "She Needs Me". Great track and a great remix! First time I heard the remix I thought it was an old song from the 70's that Monarchy made into modern electro pop. I was so wrong, but I'm right that the remix is great!

Gold In The Fire

A while ago I posted the Monarchy's original track "Gold In The Fire" in a post with great music that was right to me for the moment. Now two remixes has popped up for "Gold In The Fire" and they are bloody awesome too.

Monarchy are based in the most monarchy country of them all; the UK, so the name suits them well. Even if it's early to say after just one song, that for a fact is a demo, these two guys could be kings. On their MySpace there is one more self produced track named "Black, The Colour Of My Heart" that not is as strong as "Gold In The Fire" but still a fine tune. There are also a few remixes that are quite nice too.

Until the next track or maybe an EP is on the way we'll have to be satisfied with these great remixes where my favourite is the Def Starr remix while my colleague Arnie prefers the Diamond Cut remix. Of course the original track must be reposted!

Monarchy - Gold In The Fire

Monarchy - Gold In The Fire (Def Starr Remix)

Monarchy - Gold In The Fire (Diamond Cut Remix)

Orchestralove

Who aren't in love with an orchestra? Noah and the Whale are for sure deeply in love with one. So in love that these three remixes were made. As earlier remixes of Noah and the Whale the remixes diverse from one another.

8-bit videos and disco edits

So, speaking of old video games in the last post, I've been watching this video of Flair's "Trucker's Delight" all week, as you probably have as well. Hilarious, and a game like that would out-sell Grand Theft Auto in a second. I'm not sure the pixeled video matches the song though. It suits the Alex Gopher remix better:

Flairs - Truckers Delight (Alex Gopher Remix)

In any case the music and the video doesn't gel as perfectly as this classic 8-bit video game music video with Johan Agebjörn, producer of Sally Shapiro:

Johan Agebjörn ft. Nintendo - Mega Man II

Johan sent us these fun edits this week:

Lipps Inc. & Daft Punk - Da Funky Town (Johan Agebjörn Mashup)

Eugene - Livin' In Your Love (Johan Agebjörn Trash Re-edit)

Here's the Eugene original:

And I don't understand how this one managed to slip under our radar.

Sally Shapiro - Moonlight Dance

Neo Tokyo remixes

As we wrote earlier this week, one of the remixers on Edwin Van Cleef's "Overtaken EP" is welshman Neo Tokyo. He's also responsible for this great Phoenix remix, which (stop the presses!) is not of "1901". Mr Tokyo take the french trash-electro sound but evolve it by using cleaner synths and then cutting it all up to the point when it sounds you're play. Hmm, wonder where my old Amiga 500 is...

Edwin van Cleef - Overtaken (Neo Tokyo Remix) (128kbps)

Buy the high-quality version of "Overtaken" at Beatport!

Phoenix - Fences (Neo Tokyo Remix)

Upstation

Let me introduce Upstation to you. It's a Russian band consisting of LeV and Eugene who make catchy electropop with influences from 80s new wave and funk. Sounds familiar? Yeah, they'll remind you quite a bit of Tesla Boy, even if they're a little bit more disco. And reminding of Tesla Boy can't be a bad thing, can it? Here's their five track demo in all it's glory:

Upstation - I Don't Know

Upstation - Something Special

Upstation - Connect

Upstation - Get It On

Upstation - Over

Washed Out...

...aka Ernest Greene is a young guy from Georgia who makes balearic dreamy synth-pop. I discovered him today actually and I fell in love right away when I heard "New Theory", a song that would be perfect in a movie I think. He said himself he has only been doing music as Washed Out for a couple of months....so I guess we can expect a lot more dreamy stuff from Mr Greene in the future. He recently released an EP entitled "Life Of Leisure" available on his MySpace page here.

Débuts from Edwin Van Cleef and Fear of Tigers

Great news from that windy island north of Europe! Finally the Brits have made something to make up for their terrible football (apart from West Ham United of course). Two of our favourite British producers are making their long-awaited début releases this autumn. Fear of Tigers is releasing his album "Cossus-Snufsigalonica" as a free download on December 1 on his Facebook page since all record labels are busy barfing out "Absolute Idol Hits 999" or whatever...

We've already posted "The Adventures of Pippi Longstrump" eons ago, but why don't you upgrade it to a 320kbps version along with two great remixes by Diamond Cut and our second débutant Edwin van Cleef?

Fear of Tigers - The Adventures of Pippi Longstrump

Fear of Tigers - The Adventures of Pippi Longstrump (Diamond Cut Remix)

Fear of Tigers - The Adventures of Pippi Longstrump (Edwin Van Cleef Remix)

The second début is Edwin van Cleef's EP "Overtaken" which also marks the début of the Space Disco label. The EP was released Monday and includes, apart from a remastered and reworked version of the great original we posted quite a while ago, a Radio edit and remixes by Neo Tokyo, FM Attack and Stockholm's own Mille. The EP is available exclusively on Beatport so head over there and by a copy!

By the way, if you missed Eddie and Tiger in Gothenburg this summer you'll get a new chance when their playing at I(love)Electro at Stars n Bars on December 5. Don't miss it, 'cause they rocked the last time! To see what I'm saying, listen to this mix from Mr Van Cleef (tracklist after the jump):

Edwin Van Cleef - Space Disco 3

It's 1901 again

I don't know how many versions of "1901" I've heard so far, but this is a brand new remix by Walter Sobcek. My collegue Jonny Puma wrote about the amount of remixes in an earlier post. This cool version is definitely a fresh French touch to this frequently remixed song...

Dragonette remixed

I like Canadian quartet Dragonette. I like that they have supported both Basement Jaxx and Sugababes, and there's a bunch of remixes of them that I really like. Two such remixes have been floating around recently; Richard X's of "Pick Up The Phone" and Buffetlibre's of "Easy". I have been meaning to post them for a while, but the autumn coma made me miss the train so to speak. Thing is they're too good not to post, so I was really glad when Beaumont bailed me out by sending over his take on "PUTP" today!

We've written about Beaumont before and he cements his position as one of our favourites with this beautifully well-crafted version of "Pick Up The Phone"...

Dragonette - Pick Up The Phone (Beaumont Remix)

...quite different from Richard X's energetic electropop take of the same track:

Dragonette - Pick Up The Phone (Richard X Remix)

Barcelona's Buffetlibre's remix of "Easy" has made a big impact on the blogosphere even without our help, so let's kick-start the second wave!

I always wanted I Always Wanted a Pony's "The Weekend"

I've been lazy writing posts lately due to a slight lack of inspiration as some of you have noticed (I'm talking to you Tyler). That's all going to change now, since despite all the good music I listen to and that get sent to us there are two tracks that really have made me fall in love with music again recently. Too bad one of the tracks hasn't been available on mp3 and the other was "stolen" by Jonny in his post yesterday; ODahl's kamp! remix. Damn you Jonny!

So it's like a blessing from above I found the mp3 of the first track in our inbox today. Well a blessing from the north rather, since it was sent from the northern Swedish town of Östersund. One of the things Östersund is famous for is quite a long row of failed bids to host the Winter Olympics, something they probably would have done very well and made them very proud. Nothing of all that matter now anyhow since they have something much better to be proud of; the electropop duo of I Always Wanted a Pony. They have yet to make a big impression on the global music scene despite supporting DatA on his gig in Stockholm last spring (which we wrote about then). That's all going to change now with one really good track - "Standing Without You" - and one of the best tracks ever made - "The Weekend".

IAWAP

I Always Wanted a Pony - The Weekend

I Always Wanted a Pony - Standing Without You

Expect to hear more from them soon as they're working on a bunch of new material while getting this Name the Pet remix released. Found out I got it a while ago, but that it somehow slipped under my radar. Hate when that happens, but I get happy when I find these sort of gems laying around the music library.

Sensual Harassment

Ok I'm back now in Stockholm after four days of party madness in Berlin, celebrating the 20 years anniversary of the old Berlin wall. Today I discovered this fine pearl of beat-driven psych-pop; a Brooklyn trio called Sensual Harassment. Just the name wanted me to know more about these guys.

First song up "Daddy Long Legs" combines Moroder arpeggiators with the throbbing funk and aggression of Afrika Bambaataa. Second song "Soldier", and my favourite, has that melodic crescendo reminding of Flaming Lips or perhaps Pet Shop Boys.

Read more about these guys here or check out their MySpace here.

Some good tracks for now...

Yes, some fine tracks that are right just right now. My favourites for the moment and for some others too and soon for you guys also. Today the words will be few and I let the tracks sing for themselves. But don't forget to give the artists all your love!

Florence + Machine - You've Got the Love (The xx Remix)

Monarchy - Gold In The Fire

Metric - Help I'm Alive (80Kidz Remix)

Padded Cell - Unknown Zone (Testarossa Remix)

LexiconDon - Heart Attack (Diamond Cut Remix)

Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (Jakwob Remix)

Cruising with Falken

New exclusive single from "80's car chase soundtrack master" Stephen Falken, also with a suitable name "Cruising". The track is from the limited 7" white vinyl "The Last Escape/Cruising" with two fine acts such as Maethelvin and Stephen Falken together. Buy one of the 500 copies made here at Valerie.

Hail Hail Social!

I was longing for the third album from the great band Hail Social when I got the sad news that Hail Social is no more. That's a shame on such a fine band. In June this sentence was published on their blog: "Hail Social is no longer an active band and has not been for years now". So instead of waiting I can only hail them.

Their second album "Modern Love & Death" that was released in March 2007 is a great record that haven't got that right attention that it should. So go and check it out here at Spotify or buy it here. Top songs of that album are "One U Love", "Heaven" and "Paralyzed" with nice retro-synth sound. They changed their sound quite a bit from their first album where they were more indie-rock and that was a good choice I believe.

Hail Social - One U Love

Hail Social - Heaven

Hail Social - Paralyzed

As I mentioned Hail Social haven't got the good grades that they deserve therefore there are unfortunately very few remixes made. But the remixes that are made are instead really nice remixes, so no cheap articles, only fine quality.

Hail Social - Heaven (Anoraak Remix)

Hail Social - Heaven (Designer Drugs Mix)

Hail Social - No Paradise (Diamond Cut Rebuff)

Hail Social - No Paradise (Adeyhawke Remix)

Hail Social - No Paradise (Hot Pink Delorean Remix)

Balearic King of Denmark

Peter Visti is not quite a newcomer in the business, he's been active for about 20 years now worldwide. He's from Denmark and he's the King of Balearic. I've been following him since the release of the single "Balearic Love" in 2007. Long and kind of slow tracks and I know you are going to like it big time!

Peter Visti - Balearic Love

Peter Visti - Tokyo By Night

He's also a master of remixes. His latest remix of Swedish unsung indie-heroine Jenny Wilson's "The Wooden Chair" is fantastic and the older remix of Pollyn is just as excellent.

This time I'll be Bulletproof!

By now you should already know that we are big fans of La Roux. What you don't know is that we recently received a very nice remix of "Bulletproof" by LA-based Religion. They have remixed Justice, Busy P, Mr Oizo... just to name a few. I'm not a big fan of that fidget rave house sound, but I really liked this remix. So here it is.

Enjoy, and for all you fans here in Stockholm drop by tonight at our club 309.

White Lies in Stockholm

The great indie rock band White Lies that I wrote about earlier in May has the fine gesture to visit Berns in Stockholm for a gig tomorrow (Wednesday, November 4th). With the fantastic album "To Lose My Life", that I still believe will be one of the greatest this year, and a lot of fine remixes I envy those who will attend Berns tomorrow. I'm stuck in the middle...

Anyhow, in the last post in May I gave you all of the remixes that were available at that time. Now there are a few new ones that I will present to you. There are two remixes of the single "Death" where Mistabishi's drum'n'bass is not my thing, but I still want to post all of them remixes. I fancy Chase & Status remix more. Finally I finished the last post with the great extra song "Nothing To Give" where I said: "...with no remixes yet..." but now there are, and it's amazing M83 who makes the song more, hmm what can I say, more M83ish!

Sir Lancelot's "So stuck in the 80's" vol. 1

First of all we'd like to thank all nice guys and girls coming to our premiere night of "Tracasseur 309" last week. Kudos to you all! Secondly and last, I'd like to share with you some of my favourite songs from the 80's, or simply songs inspired by the 80's... Actually one song is from '79 (hope you don't mind). I've chosen more or less obscure and rare songs that you hopefully don't already have. Enjoy!

Billy Ocean - European Queen (Rayko Remix)

When In Rome - The Promise
