diskJokke from Norway, tonight in Sweden

One from the Norwegian electronic disco crew is coming to Uppsala, Sweden tonight, his name is diskJokke. Can't really tell how you can hear that the music is made in Norway, but they have a special sound in the Land of the Midnight Sun. Could it be all the salmon they are eating from the fjords? Anyway, diskJokke makes music in the same field as Lindstrøm, Prins Thomas and Röyksopp. It's high quality all the way, from the production to the music of course.

He released his first full-length album "Staying In" in 2007 but have also released a bunch of EPs and 12". He has also done a lot of great remixes of great acts such as Bloc Party, Metronomy, The xx and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Today, Norway ranks as the wealthiest country in the world in monetary value and I also believe that Norway ranks as one of the wealthiest countries in making electronic disco.

diskJokke - Flott Flyt

diskJokke - Folk I Farta

diskJokke - Interpolation

Charlotte Gainsbourg - IRM (diskJokke Remix)

Harrys Gym - Attic (diskJokke Remix)

Lykke Li - Everybody But Me (diskJokke Remix)

Metronomy - Heartbreaker (diskJokke Remix)

Ost and Kjex - Boston Food Strangler (diskJokke Remix)

The National Bank - Home (diskJokke Remix)

The xx - Basic Space (diskJokke Remix)

Tonight I got the honour to hang out with diskJokke when he is visiting Glasnost for an amazing dj-set. So if you're in the surroundings get your ass over to Glasnost for some Norwegian disco dance. Along with diskJokke two fine Swedes are also playing records at the same place; Jackpot and Hampus Drake. We wrote about Hampus a short time ago and Jackpot have made several fine releases. More about Jackpot to come but here are some tracks.

Jackpot - Brief Encounter

The Very Best - Julia (Jackpot Remix)

JAPAYORK

We just received this excellent video "Our Now" by JAPAYORK a 22 year old graphic designer and videographer by the day. He lived in Japan and New York but is now based in London, hence the name JAPAYORK...

You can also check out his website for more artwork and pictures.
I love this video that sometimes reminds me of the JUSTICE video D.A.N.C.E...

Secret Galaxies

...is the name of a song by Cavaliers of Fun that my colleague Jonny Puma posted earlier last year. They have now been remixed by the Canadian duo ¡BORRACHO!

This remix has a big hit potential and will probably be played a lot in the clubs. I know I will...Here is a 320kbit/s version of it and a cool video:

Holdin On

I'm currently laying in bed struck down by a flue, so I won't write an essay in this post. But when we got the news that Justin Faust's new EP "Holdin On" just was released on the great blog-turned-label Discotexas, I had to share it with you. The release contains two original tracks from Justin (which are great synth house tracks as always), as well as two disco house remixes by Boston duo Nightriders and one by Munich based Portuguese Moullinex. Oh, and if you think I spelled Moullinex funny, he's added an extra "l" to his name.

Here's the full release in 128kbps:

Justin Faust - Holdin On

Justin Faust - Holdin On (Moullinex Remix)

Justin Faust - Holdin On (Nightriders Remix)

Justin Faust - Holdin On (Nightriders 909 Remix)

Justin Faust - Witty

Disco Bloodbath in Stockholm

We've been quite busy this week with our new club concept "Rum 401" that I wrote about in the post before this. Therefore we didn't got the proper time to sit down and do some decent posts at the same regularity basis. We're sorry for that but we're also happy because "Rum 401" was a huge success yesterday. Packed with people in the perfect party mode, as Tracasseur djs we couldn't really complain.

Tonight I'm off to catch Disco Bloodbath together with our dj friends Dogs From Redding and Samlingen. Disco Bloodbath is one of the hottest clubs in London. Lately they have also been starting making own stuff along with Ben Rymer and Gucci Soundsystem. They also make fine remixes, here are some of them.

Wolf Gang - Pieces of You (Disco Bloodbath Remix)

White Lies - Farewell To The Fairground (Disco Bloodbath Remix)

The High Wire - The Midnight Bell (Disco Bloodbath Effect)

The Aliens - Sunlamp Show (Disco Bloodbath Remix)

Little Boots - Remedy (Disco Bloodbath Remix)

And we promise to get into the right pace again with the posts...

Rum 401 / Room 401

Tracasseur are going to start a new club concept together with Lost Sthlm. The première are going to happen this Friday. It's going to be a crazy evening; 11 djs, two dancefloors, smoke, laser and a totally full guestlist.

Rum 401 takes place in an old Victorian top floor apartment of Hotel Kung Carl in the heart of Stockholm. It consists of three spaces: The Bar, The Blue Room, and The Red Room. Each space in different decor, lights and functionality.

The Blue Room is really dark with closed doors, fidget, techno and Balkan music hosted by Lost Sthlm. The Red Room is more lightened up in red with the best from the Tracasseur blog with nu disco, italo and electro vibes.

As they say, be there or be square...

Hampus Drake

...is the name of a 25 year old dj and producer from Stockholm. Hampus Drake moved to NYC in 2004 studying Human Rights by day, and spent most of the nights studying the warehouse party culture of New York City. He spent a total of two years in New York, spending most of his money on records and discovering a new way of life.

He also runs record label Norrsken Digitale that releases great edits and remixes supported all around the World by names such as Serge Santiago, Jackpot, Bottin... and that can't be wrong!

Gremly

Since it's Saturday night you might want to get down to some intense, energetic French style filter house? Until a few days ago I hadn't heard of Gremly, which in a way is pretty strange because a) he makes that sort of The Phantom's Revenge-style house that always strike a chord with me and b) he has made the equivalent of three albums last year.

Here are what I think are the highlights from his solid discography. My favourites are the a-Ha sample in "Blue Sky" and the familiar sample in "I Can Make You Happy", which I can't quite place. With the risk of making an ass of myself, I think it sounds like Earth Wind & Fire, but maybe one of our knowledgeable readers can shed some light.

EDIT: Grimly has confirmed that the sample is indeed from EW&F; the 1981 single "And Love Goes On" to be precise. Apparently all it took to throw me off was to leave out the chorus... Perhaps I'm not a big ass but maybe a Shetland pony or something.

Anyway, head over to Gremly's Bandcamp page and download the rest of the goodies for free!

Gremly - I Can Make You Happy

Gremly - Blue Sky

Gremly - Do You Remember

Gremly - Holiday Trip

Asia Cruise - Selfish (Gremly Remix)

Beat Crusaders - There She Goes (Gremly Remix)

Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes (Gremly Remix)

Pony Pony Run Run - Hey You (Gremly Remix)

Samantha Fox - I Surrender (Gremly Remix)

Build original!

Photobucket
As I wrote in the Delphic post last week, all of us at Tracasseur really loved all the Build remixes that popped up as delicious mushrooms around this time last year. Maybe we have been looking in the wrong places, but it's been really quiet from Jason Reid during the second part of last year. That's why we were so pleased to hear the new Delphic remix a couple of weeks ago.

With all great remixers you always start to wonder what their own tracks would sound like. And here is the tricky part: a good remixer doesn't always make a good song-writer. So it was with a lot of anticipation I received what, as far as I know, is Mr Build's first own track. And I have to say he impresses just as much as he did when I first heard his remixes. The production is immaculate as always, and his distinct, synth-heavy electro pop sound is intact. But what strikes me most is his great sense of harmonies and melodies. If there's anything this track lacks... No, I'll rephrase that; if there's anything that would make an already awesome track even better it would be adding some vocals, just as Bag Raiders did with "Shooting Stars".

AXXE

Axxe have two tracks up on their MySpace, both of them remixed by rather prominent remixers. One of those below-par bands that try to inflate their value by hiring some cool remixers to rework some tired tracks you say? Well, you couldn't be more wrong. Although I'm a big fan of both Worship and Neon Workout, I have to say that the originals are just as good as the remixes.

Hailing from Montreal, Quebec, the electro-pop duo consisting of Douglas Chow and Icelandic singer Stina Agustsdottir is pretty fresh, as I've said. But that doesn't stop them from already playing at pretty cool places. Today, Friday, they're playing at Divan Orange with Vitaminsforyou and Hexes & Ohs, and on February 26 they're playing at Montreal Electronic Groove Festival. If you're lucky enough to be near eastern Canada you should check them out!

More Flashworx

Our favourite Geneva duo Flashworx have been pretty productive over the winter. After the Kirstenana remix they did just after our first post about them, and which has been one of my favourite tracks around the the holidays, they have remixed Monsieur Adi, Rosso Corsa colleagues D/A/D, and Overthrill with great results. Mike, who we had the pleasure of hanging out with when he visited Stockholm a couple of weeks back, even have had time to make us an italo fuming mixtape for which we are very greatful. But of course we'll share it with you...

Monsieur Adi - We Are The Romans (Flashworx Remix)

Overthrill - Life feat. Miss Wonder (Flashworx Remix)

Kirstenana - Happy (Flashworx Remix)

Nightriders

Boston duo Nightriders are bringing the disco and filter house of the turn of the millennium back. They were recently selected as part of URB Magazine's 'Next 100 artists' and their last single "A Love Feeling" reached the Beatport Top 20. Their next release will be "Night Moves Vol.1" on OMG! Recordings and it's meant to take house music back to the time when it was warm, simple and full of love and emotion. The full release will be out exclusively on Beatport on February 23.

Goulding + Adi (the mp3)

Since we are such nice and polite people we waited for a clearance from the Adi/Goulding management before posting the mp3 of the lovely remix we posted a video of a couple of days ago. Nous adorons Monsieur Adi et nous adorons Mademoiselle Goulding!

Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (Monsieur Adi Remix)

Debut Release from Monarchy

Tracasseur faves Monarchy will be releasing their debut single "Gold in the Fire" (which we wrote about in November) on NY label Neon Gold this week. The 7" will contain the title track and "Black the Colour Of My Heart" on the B-side. That's great news for all us Monarchy fans who will buy it at Pure Groove.

Here are some more great remixes of "Gold in the Fire" by Hidden Cat, We Have Band and Flak Attack:

Monarchy - Gold In The Fire (Hidden Cat Remix)

Monarchy - Gold In The Fire (We Have Band Remix)

Monarchy - Gold In The Fire (Flak Attack Remix)

And speaking of Monsieur Adi's Ellie Goulding remix a couple of posts ago, that's a favourite of mine too along with the original and the Russ Chimes remix. Monarchy and Ellie is also a match made in heaven though and "Starry Eyed" will surely be the epic remix saga of 2010.

Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (Monarchy 'The Horse Head Nebular' Remix)

SWR001: Toomy Disco

February 22 marks the debut release of Dubai based label Space Walker Recordings. The label was set up late last year by the three friends Shawn Mac, Holic and Christian Cardwell who all have a vast amount of experience with nu-disco/indie/new wave music. They will be giving you spaced out cosmic grooves on a steady basis.

The first release is Argentinian nu disco act Toomy Disco's "Back From Cosmos". A fan of classic disco and funk he has only recently started to pursue his dream of producing music. He's so fresh in the business that he doesn't even have a MySpace page yet. The release include three original tracks remixed by Marcello Giordani, Ricky Inch and our Swedish hero ODahl.

Toomy Disco - Back From Cosmos (ODahl's Cosmic Remix)

The next release will be Swedish space disco/prog house producer Claes Rosen's "Sparkles" with remixes by Martin Virgin vs South eXpress, SPSM and Sare Havlicek.

Teaser from Monsieur Adi

On February 22 our Italian friend Monsieur Adi will release the remix of Ellie Goulding's "Starry Eyed". It's without a doubt the best remix of "Starry Eyed" I've heard so far.

We have written about Monsieur Adi a couple of times before and he also turned up on Arnie's "Best of 2009" with the splendid remix of Visitor's "Los Feeling". This guy is also releasing his debut album during this spring, in other words; be alert!

EDIT: The mp3 is posted a couple of posts up.

This isn't the first time Monsieur Adi is remixing people from the UK. He's made the mentioned remix above of Visitor and he has also made remixes of Marina and the Diamonds, Frankmusik and Temposhark. He knows how to handle the Brits well!

Marina and the Diamonds - Obsessions (Monsieur Adi Remix)

Frankmusik - 3 Little Words (Monsieur Adi Remix)

Temposhark - Bye Bye Baby (Monsieur Adi Remix)

While waiting for the releases of Monsieur Adi, we can always listen to his latest remix of NY-based Javi.

Javi - Situation (Monsieur Adi Remix)

Sad Machine

In early October I wrote about a new discovery to me; the Swedish duo Kläder & Vapen (Clothes & Weapons in English). Back then they had made great remixes together with our slow and sad indie girl Anna Ternheim. Fantastic work with sad songs turned into great electro.

This time it's sad again, "Sad Machine" to me more precise. A nice track from the Swedish guy & girl duo Cleast Eatwood, who makes slow electro pop in a brilliant way. Kläder & Vapen's remix of the track is more discrete than the other remixes of Ternheim, but not bad at all for that. They take this track to another level to put it out simply.

Cleast Eatwood - Sad Machine (Kläder & Vapen Remix)

Cleast Eatwood - Sad Machine

As a bonus you must also check out the the tranquil and beautiful cover that Cleast Eatwood made of MGMT last year.

Delphic @ Debaser Medis tonight!

Ok, if you're in Stockholm tonight you're in a hurry: Manchester trio Delphic is playing at Debaser Medis tonight with free admittance before 22!

The band consists of James Cook (vocals and bass), Matt Cocksedge (guitar) and Richard Boardman (synths) with support from Dan Hadley on drums. Their critically acclaimed debut album "Acolyte" was released January 11 and should make them light up like fireworks during 2010. They describe their music as mixing euphoric electronica with anthemic songs for a post-dance world, and if I would compare them with someone it would be with another British band I really like; Friendly Fires.

They will releasing a US-only EP digitally on March 2 followed by a limited vinyl 12" release a couple of weeks later. They'll also be doing a set on this year's Coachella festival, so stay tuned!

If you think putting up this post to promote a gig just hours before it starts is a bit late you're probably right. On the other hand, had we put it up any sooner we wouldn't have been able to post the Build remix of "Doubt" that's literally hours old. It's really great to hear from a guy that we all listened to a lot during last year. Also enjoy the other remixes by What Kind Of Breeze Do You Blow?, The Chain and Doc Daneeka as well as Delphic's own remix of Phoenix.

Phoenix - Fences (Delphic Remix)

You also really should check out the awesome mixtape that Delphic has available for download on Modular's homepage. Oh, and check out the tracks Jonny posted a while ago in case you missed it.

Don't forget to show Delphic some MySpace love! And if you are in Milano on the 11th of February you can see them there and also enjoy Sir Lancelot's DJ gig afterwards.

Daft Punk remixed

As you probably know Daft Punk are currently working on the soundtrack to the upcoming "Tron Legacy" movie. Towards the end of last year a couple of tracks from the soundtrack supposedly leaked out on the internet which didn't exactly made people looking forward to the movie and its soundtrack any less. From the get-go they were surrounded by some uncertainty whether they were actually made by Daft Punk or not and it came as little surprise when they turned out to be fakes.

So if this whole thing has made you down-beat or you just need a Daft Punk fix, you might like these remixes by our buddy Lebatman and German duo Overthrill:

Daft Punk - Technologic (Lebatman Rework)

Daft Punk - Around the World (Overthrill Remix)

Oh, and speaking of Overthrill, Here We Are, the Spaniards with such an awesome Dragonette remix, just remixed them!

Overthrill - Your Life (Here We Are Remix)

Midnight Club, The Kiwi's & Nuage Elliott

Man, I've been so terribly lazy posting stuff since the beginning of the year. I've actually felt guilty sitting on so much great music without sharing with you, our beloved readers. I will strive to change that from now on.

I'll start with fantastic French label On the Fruit's next release which comes out in mid-February; the debut EP of Midnight Club called "The Machine". The trio, made up of Telemac, Hosta and Chwingman, may be virtually unknown to the blogosphere, even if they were on the MOTU 2 compilation of early 2009, but they are no freshmen music producers. For nearly 20 years they have been making music in different rock, electro and hip hop bands. Heavily influenced by Giorgio Moroder and 80s music and culture they even make their music on 80s synths and other hardware.

The whole EP is filled with fantastic nu italo flavoured electro with a solid remix from Worship who always deliver. I really can't post the entire EP, but it was so hard choosing which ones of all the really strong tracks to post that I only left out one track. On the other hand that's equally good as the rest, so you'll want to buy the EP anyway.

Midnight Club - The Machine

Midnight Club - The Machine (Worship Remix)

Midnight Club - Hot Space

Midnight Club - Escape Time

Midnight Club - Robotic

Franck Freak You is really doing a good job with On the Fruit (apart from making awesome music of his own). He has a keen eye for talent as the latest releases from the label testify:

The Kiwi's (sic!) "14 Years Old" was released January 30 and is a mixture of dancefloor electro and experimental electronica. I prefer the title track and the alluringly beautiful "Vovenciatra" which is a strange mixture of electro and folk music.

The Kiwi's - 14 Years Old

The Kiwi's - Vovenciatra

17-year old Nuage Elliott seems to be running a small family enterprise. The EP "56 40" was released last December and feautures his father making something resembling rapping, his little sister making some crazy choruses and his cousins Djston and Tiam Wills are also contributing. His sound is firmly rooted in 90's filter house and he reminds me of such French classics as Super Discount and Motorbass.

Sir Lancelot's Dj Tools #2

It's time again to hand out more 12" vinyl records I transferred to Mp3, all in 320 kbit/s.

Enjoy these songs:

Nice filter house can never be wrong, can it?

Christopher Just - I'm A Disco Dancer (Salt City Orchestra Remix)
Heavy remix of a heavy song. This is much better than Fatboy Slim's version.

And more filter house...

German Housemeister brings a blippy minimal tech-house tune.

Well I don't consider 2004 that old really...but it's really good.

If you put aside the cheesy factor in this song you might love it.

Amazing disco track with cowbells.

They sounded a bit different back in 1975...

Tracasseur one year anniversary

Hip hip hooray! Today it's exactly one year since Tracasseur's first post saw the sun, it was about the Belgian duo Aeroplane. Other acts that was up on Tracasseur in the beginning was The Golden Filter and Fear of Tigers. So already from the beginning there was some good quality of music passing through Tracasseur and further on to you guys. We have been writing about all kinds of music this year, everything from obscure italo via nu disco to the housiest house.

During the year that has passed we have also developed the blog. In the beginning we used MediaFire to share the music but since last summer we have our own server with the great music. It makes downloading faster. At the same time we introduced our preview player that was one of the big wishes from our readers, and for a while ago we even pimped it further.

We also believe that we have gained more experience in writing. And we also believe that the quality of Tracasseur has gained and still does. One of the things we can point to is the increase of visitors. An increase that isn't slowing down at all, and for that we love our readers and promise to keep our good work up for a long long time, because; Tracasseur is here for you!

Thanks for all the comments, the sharing, the support and the love-talk during the year, thank you! And keep coming back to us with your music, your point of views and especially the love-talk...

Big love from Tracasseur to all our readers!!!

Röyksopp - Happy Birthday

Junior Boys - Birthday

Filipsson & Lindblad - Happy Birthday Day Jef

DJ Pozsi - Happy Birthday (Breaks Remix)

Altered Images - Happy Birthday (12" mix)

And for those who are in Stockholm on Friday, February 19, don't miss out on our "Tracasseur One Year Anniversary Party" at Kung Carl, more details to come...

Tropical Silence

The man behind Tropical Silence is Kilian Eng, who also is a member of the Swedish nu italo band DW. With Tropical Silence he gets the chance to get another image of the music comparing to DW. The inspiration comes from early ambient music and the darker disco genres.

When I asked Kilian in what genre he puts his own music I got a kind of diffuse answer:
"I've a small problem right now putting my music in a special genre. I want to be as free I can be in the creating process, but the most important ingredients should be good melodies combined with heavy, darker synths and sequencers. Another important piece is that every track should tell a story or be a part of a longer story so it becomes a kind of electronic story-telling."

I believe that Kilian has something real strong going on in this sort of new and secret project Tropical Silence. The record label Asphalt Duchess from France believes so too, because of the shown interest in signing Tropical Silence for a release during 2010. They have released such great acts such as Grizzly Bear, The Embassy och Mondkopf. So, if signed, Tropical Silence is going to be in good company.

Rayko

Rayko is a Dj-producer from Spain and makes amazing edits. He also makes his own balearic music and runs Rare Wiri Records, a great label that has artists such as Santana, Phoreski, Ichisan...

So if you're a fan of balearic space disco you should definitely check out this label and support the artists by buying their music here.

I had an Rayko mix earlier last year but these are my favourite ones:
